CHARITYDREAM was withdrawn on 21.9.20 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (injury to right hock). Before being allowed to race again, CHARITYDREAM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On arrival at the Start, SUCCESS ALLSTARS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that after the necessary consultations the horse was suitable to race. Also on arrival at the Start, it was noted that WHO’S HORSE had lost its left front plate. This plate was refitted. WHO’S HORSE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. As the start was effected, THE JOY OF GIVING stood flat-footed and consequently lost a significant amount of ground. As this was the second occasion within a limited number of starts that THE JOY OF GIVING had stood flat-footed at the start, the Stewards ruled that that horse must undergo a series of consecutive satisfactory barrier trials prior to being permitted to race again. ENJOYABLE SUCCESS began only fairly. From the outside barrier, SKY GEM was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. FORTUNE PATROL was also shifted across behind runners to obtain cover shortly after the start. Passing the 1600 Metres, VIRTUS STAR shifted in and bumped HAPPY HOUR. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, HOME WIN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of STRAPPING BAUHINIA when racing tight inside SUCCESS ALLSTARS (H W Lai) which shifted in. H W Lai was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. HAPPY HOUR, which was following HOME WIN, was eased away from the heels of that horse in consequence. FORTUNE PATROL was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn. Approaching the 200 Metres, HAPPY HOUR was momentarily held up when improving into tight running inside BABY STORM which was giving ground. A veterinary inspection of WHO’S HORSE and BABY STORM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. STRAPPING BAUHINIA and VIRTUS STAR were sent for sampling.

SHINING ON was slow to begin and then was steadied away from the heels of SUPER EIGHTEEN which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. Then a short distance after the start, TELECOM ROCKET was steadied when crowded for room between SUPER EIGHTEEN which continued to shift in and NOBLE MAN which shifted out. WOOD ON FIRE shifted in at the start and hampered HELAKU KNIGHT. Then from a wide barrier, HELAKU KNIGHT was steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. After this, despite being hard ridden, WOOD ON FIRE failed to muster speed. WOOD ON FIRE was consequently left racing very wide and without cover approaching and passing the 1000 Metres and was then ridden along passing the 900 Metres to obtain a more forward position, however, continued to race wide and without cover. Shortly after the start, SEVENTH SEA momentarily raced in restricted room inside DAY RICH which got its head on the side and lay in when being ridden along. Passing the 900 Metres, TELECOM ROCKET became unbalanced when racing keenly and awkwardly placed behind NOBLE MAN. Passing the 400 Metres, JAZZ STEED was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPER EIGHTEEN when unable to improve to the outside of that horse and inside WOOD ON FIRE which maintained its position to the outside of JAZZ STEED. HELAKU KNIGHT, which was following, was checked away from the heels of JAZZ STEED in consequence, clipped the heels of that horse and stumbled. Rounding the Home Turn, TELECOM ROCKET was awkwardly placed behind NOBLE MAN. Passing the 250 Metres, TELECOM ROCKET was commencing to shift to the outside of NOBLE MAN when unable to improve inside that horse. NOBLE MAN then shifted out to improve to the outside of DAY DAY RICH which resulted in TELECOM ROCKET shifting back in to obtain clear running. SHINING ON had some difficulty obtaining a clear run approaching the 200 Metres and then was directed out a number of horses approaching and passing the 150 Metres to obtain clear running. Passing the 200 Metres, DESTIN and SEVENTH SEA raced tight. Over the concluding stages, NOBLE MAN was steadied when crowded for room between SUPER EIGHTEEN and BULLISH BROTHER which was taken in by JAZZ STEED (C Schofield). C Schofield was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. Consequently NOBLE MAN was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race and BULLISH BROTHER was not able to be fully tested. Passing the finishing line, TELECOM ROCKET raced tight inside SUPER EIGHTEEN which shifted in marginally. JAZZ STEED and SHINING ON were sent for sampling.

NAMJONG SINGS was slow to begin and consequently raced back in the field. SMILING FACE lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected, resulting in the horse losing a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, SMILING FACE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. Near the 650 Metres, WILD WEST WING was taken out by MANAGEMENT SUPREME which shifted to the outside of WE THE SOUTH. This resulted in WILD WEST WING travelling wide and without cover. Passing the 500 Metres, NAMJONG SINGS, which was travelling keenly, was awkwardly placed behind AFTER ME. At the entrance to the Straight, NAMJONG SINGS was shifted out away from the heels of ALL BEST FRIENDS to obtain clear running. In the early part of the Straight, WILD WEST WING got its head on the side and lay in, requiring its rider to change his whip into his right hand and correct WILD WEST WING. Passing the 150 Metres, FORZA ANGEL was steadied when held up for clear running behind WE THE SOUTH. FORZA ANGEL then improved into tight running inside WE THE SOUTH passing the 100 Metres and over the concluding stages raced in restricted room inside that horse which shifted in marginally. Consequently FORZA ANGEL was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race. When questioned, M L Yeung stated that he was instructed to give ALL BEST FRIENDS a good warm up behind the barriers and obtain as forward a position as possible. He said it was expected that over the 1000 Metres the horse would not have sufficient speed to be able to be one of the leaders of the race, however, it was hoped that ALL BEST FRIENDS would be able to obtain a trailing position behind the speed. He said ALL BEST FRIENDS began well and he immediately commenced to ride his mount along vigorously to take up as prominent a position as possible. He said, despite his riding of ALL BEST FRIENDS, AFTER ME was able to maintain its position to the inside of his mount without being pushed to do so and therefore he was unable to clear AFTER ME and obtain a position on the rail. He said he continued to ride ALL BEST FRIENDS along approaching and passing the 800 Metres, however, the horse did not show any early speed and he was unable to prevent both FARM BUMPER and ARDENODE, which had drawn wider than ALL BEST FRIENDS and had initially been racing behind his mount, from gaining an advantage over his mount and shifting in front of ALL BEST FRIENDS. After considering Jockey Yeung’s evidence and after viewing the videos, the Stewards accepted his explanation. NAMJONG SINGS, FARM BUMPER and WILD WEST WING were sent for sampling.

WINNING ENDEAVOUR lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and was slow to begin. DELIGHTFUL LAOS began awkwardly. BRAVE KING shifted out at the start and bumped WEALTHY DELIGHT. REEL BIZZY began awkwardly and then bumped with NAMJONG PLUS at the start. URBAN DANCER and ENSHRINED bumped at the start. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, WEALTHY DELIGHT was awkwardly placed outside the heels of RICH AND LUCKY when being steadied to obtain cover behind that horse. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, FLASH FAMOUS was left racing wide and without cover. FLASH FAMOUS was then allowed to improve its position after the 1300 Metres to race outside the lead at the 800 Metres. M L Yeung (URBAN DANCER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of RICH AND LUCKY, resulting in that horse being checked away from the heels of URBAN DANCER and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. M L Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 14 October 2020 and to expire on Monday, 19 October on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Yeung’s good race riding record. After the 1200 Metres, REEL BIZZY, which was travelling keenly, was steadied away from the heels of ENSHRINED. Near the 150 Metres, BRAVE KING was shifted out away from the heels of RICH AND LUCKY which was directed to the outside of FLASH FAMOUS to obtain clear running as that horse was giving ground. C Schofield pleaded guilty to a breach of Rule 100(2) in that he failed to ride WEALTHY DELIGHT, 6th placegetter, out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. For this breach of the Rule, C Schofield was fined the sum of $15,000. When questioned, Z Purton stated that ENSHRINED, which was having its first start on the turf in Hong Kong tonight and was stepping up in distance to 1650 Metres, did not relax during the race. He said after riding his mount along to take up a forward position, ENSHRINED travelled too keenly when racing outside the early leader URBAN DANCER. He said when FLASH FAMOUS subsequently improved to the outside of ENSHRINED, this again fired up his mount. He said due to ENSHRINED travelling too keenly, he was unable to remain racing beside URBAN DANCER and was required to cross that horse and race on the rail in the lead. He said because of the manner in which ENSHRINED travelled in the early and middle stages, the horse came under heavy pressure after the 500 Metres and then despite being ridden out gave ground noticeably in the early part of the Straight. A veterinary inspection of ENSHRINED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of ENSHRINED, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ENSHRINED will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of FLASH FAMOUS and URBAN DANCER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TASHIDELEK and NAMJONG PLUS were sent for sampling.

HAR HAR HEART was slow to begin. RULE THEE began only fairly and then was crowded for room between PRETTY BAUHINIA which shifted in marginally and GO BALLISTIC which shifted out. In this incident, GO BALLISTIC became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by RULE THEE. BULLISH GLORY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. After travelling a short distance, DIONYSUS COLLIN raced tight inside BUNDLE OF ENERGY which lay in. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, VILLA FIONN, which was travelling keenly, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GO BALLISTIC. After this, VILLA FIONN continued to be awkwardly placed behind GO BALLISTIC and approaching the 1300 Metres lay in, resulting in DIONYSUS COLLIN being crowded for room. VILLA FIONN was then shifted out abruptly to relieve the tightening to DIONYSUS COLLIN. Approaching the 1100 Metres, VILLA FIONN was again awkwardly placed behind GO BALLISTIC. Passing the 650 Metres, VILLA FIONN raced tight outside DIONYSUS COLLIN which commenced to improve to the outside of GO BALLISTIC. Passing the 500 Metres, DIONYSUS COLLIN then raced in restricted room between VILLA FIONN and GO BALLISTIC which improved to the outside of RED ELYSEES. At the entrance to the Straight, RULE THEE was momentarily awkwardly placed behind BEAUTY ANGEL when disappointed for running between that horse and PRESIDENT STAR. Approaching the 200 Metres, RULE THEE got its head on the side and raced tight inside the hindquarters of SHADOW BREAKER. For the majority of the race, PRETTY BAUHINIA travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of PRETTY BAUHINIA immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer’ which had previously been reported. The performance of PRETTY BAUHINIA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PRETTY BAUHINIA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned, K Teetan stated that after being able to obtain a good position on GO BALLISTIC in the middle stages, he shifted his mount to the outside of RED ELYSEES near the 500 Metres due to the horse being one-paced and having a relatively light weight. He said GO BALLISTIC was under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn and he rode the horse aggressively in the early part of the Straight, however, GO BALLISTIC, after showing a limited dash rounding the Home Turn, commenced to finish off the race one-paced. He added after using the whip in the right hand in the early part of the Straight, he changed the whip over into his left hand in an attempt to have the horse respond better, however, GO BALLISTIC was not finishing off the race as both RULE THEE and BUNDLE OF ENERGY were making ground on GO BALLISTIC approaching the 100 Metres. He added as GO BALLISTIC was not finishing off the race when being ridden in this manner, he put the whip away and rode the horse out hands and heels to the end of the race. After the race, Apprentice C L Chau stated that although it took SHADOW BREAKER some time to reach the lead, he did not have to make too much use of the horse to obtain a forward position. He said after crossing PRESIDENT STAR to race in the lead after the 1200 Metres, SHADOW BREAKER travelled comfortably and he anticipated that the horse would finish off the race well. He said however that after coming under pressure rounding the Home Turn, SHADOW BREAKER did not quicken as he expected and then was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of SHADOW BREAKER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Also after the race, C Y Ho stated that after racing tight inside VILLA FIONN approaching the 1300 Metres, DIONYSUS COLLIN would not settle and near the 1000 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of BEAUTY ANGEL. He said after this DIONYSUS COLLIN did not travel comfortably and then after being placed under pressure in the Straight was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of DIONYSUS COLLIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BEAUTY ANGEL and RED ELYSEES were sent for sampling.

ROYAL RACER and LUCKY MISSILE bumped at the start. MURRAY’S PARTNERS and BLOOMING SPIRIT began only fairly and then MURRAY’S PARTNERS was bumped by BLOOMING SPIRIT on jumping which shifted in. Shortly after the start, ROCKET HAMMER was bumped by THUNDER STOMP which shifted out after receiving contact from FAITHFUL TRINITY. This resulted in ROCKET HAMMER and RIGHT HONOURABLE racing tight for a short distance inside LUCKY TURBO. From the outside barrier, ELECTRIC LIGHTNING was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, THUNDER STOMP, which was travelling keenly, shifted in away from the heels of UNIVERSAL GO GO which was being steadied in an attempt to obtain cover. THUNDER STOMP then improved into tight running between UNIVERSAL GO GO and JOLLY FOREVER, resulting in those horses racing tight for some distance and bumping on a number of occasions. Passing the 1000 Metres, BLOOMING SPIRIT was awkwardly placed behind THUNDER STOMP. Passing the 900 Metres, ROCKET HAMMER became unbalanced if its own accord and stumbled. The Stewards will monitor the racing manners of ROCKET HAMMER in its future race starts. After this, ROCKET HAMMER came under pressure and subsequently finished tailed out. The performance of ROCKET HAMMER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ROCKET HAMMER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of ROCKET HAMMER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Passing the 800 Metres, BLOOMING SPIRIT became unbalanced after being bumped by JOLLY FOREVER which, when being shifted to the outside of THUNDER STOMP, was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse which shifted out. Near the 550 Metres, LUCKY MISSILE, which had come under pressure, lost ground when crowded for room between ROYAL RACER which got its head on the side and lay out and UNIVERSAL GO GO which was racing tight inside JOLLY FOREVER which itself was racing tight inside BLOOMING SPIRIT after being unable to proceed between that horse and THUNDER STOMP which lay out. As the Stewards were satisfied that there was no rider error associated with this incident, no further action was taken. When questioned, C Y Ho (UNIVERSAL GO GO) stated that in the early stages he was left racing three wide and without cover. He said after the 1200 Metres he allowed his mount to improve to race outside LUCKY TURBO which was racing outside FAITHFUL TRINITY. He said he felt that LUCKY TURBO was going to continue on forward of FAITHFUL TRINITY approaching and passing the 1100 Metres as LUCKY TURBO established about a half length margin over FAITHFUL TRINITY and therefore he continued racing three wide with a view to following LUCKY TURBO across in the event that that horse cleared FAITHFUL TRINITY. He said however that FAITHFUL TRINITY maintained its position approaching and passing the 1000 Metres which resulted in LUCKY TURBO not being able to clear FAITHFUL TRINITY and this resulted in UNIVERSAL GO GO being required to race wide and without cover until after the 700 Metres. When questioned, M F Poon stated that after obtaining a good run behind the speed in the middle stages, LUCKY MISSILE came under heavy pressure after the 700 Metres and he was required to ride the horse vigorously passing the 650 Metres. He said the manner in which LUCKY MISSILE came under pressure at this stage, given that it had enjoyed a good run to that point, indicated to him that the horse was not comfortable racing amongst horses as LUCKY MISSILE, despite being ridden along, was reluctant to maintain its position. He said when LUCKY MISSILE raced tight near the 550 Metres, his mount came under heavy pressure at this stage and continued to give ground approaching the Home Turn. He said however that after obtaining clear running in the Straight, his mount did not continue to give further ground and finished off the race one-paced. He added when successful at its last start the horse was able to race outside runners and finished off the race much better. He said he recommended to connections that they consider adding blinkers to the gear carried by LUCKY MISSILE in its future starts given its reluctance to hold its position after the 700 Metres. Mr D J Hall, the trainer of LUCKY MISSILE, said that he had previously applied blinkers to the horse at its track work and it had proved somewhat difficult to settle and for this reason he elected to add sheepskin cheek pieces to the horse’s gear in the lead up to its last start success. He said however that based on tonight’s performance, he would again consider adding blinkers to the horse’s gear given that it appeared to be reluctant to maintain its position. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY MISSILE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of LUCKY MISSILE, favourite for tonight’s race and a last start winner, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY MISSILE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY TURBO and BLOOMING SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY MISSILE, ROYAL RACER and FAITHFUL TRINITY were sent for sampling.

CANTSTOPTHEFEELING shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of METRO WARRIOR, causing both horses to become unbalanced and for CANTSTOPTHEFEELING to lose ground. From the outside barriers, XPONENTIAL, SEVEN HEAVENS and TELECOM JAC were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. Making the turn near the 1050 Metres, CANTSTOPTHEFEELING and CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT bumped. Making the turn near the 600 Metres, CANTSTOPTHEFEELING raced tight between BEAUTY SPARK and TOP SCORE which got its head on the side and lay in. After the race, A Badel stated that after this CANTSTOPTHEFEELING came under heavy pressure and he had to ride his mount along passing the 500 Metres to maintain its position. He said after following the eventual winner AMAZING KIWI into the Straight, CANTSTOPTHEFEELING was disappointing in the manner in which it finished off the race. A veterinary inspection of CANTSTOPTHEFEELING immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. Near the 250 Metres, VERY SWEET ORANGE raced tight outside STANLEY PARK which shifted out For the major part of the race, TOP SCORE travelled wide and without cover. BEAUTY AMIGO began only fairly. MEGA HEART began awkwardly and then was crowded for room shortly after the start between CALIFORNIA RAD and GOLDEN DASH, both of which shifted ground. BEAUTY APPLAUSE shifted out at the start, resulting in AMAZING STAR being taken out onto WALDORF. From a wide barrier, MASSIVE POCKET was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. K Teetan (CALIFORNIA RAD) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in and to make contact with UGLY WARRIOR and bumped that horse unnecessarily, causing both UGLY WARRIOR and CALIFORNIA RAD to become unbalanced and for UGLY WARRIOR to shift in across the rightful running of TOUCH OF LUCK which was checked. K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 7 October 2020 and to expire on Monday, 12 October on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Teetan’s good race riding record. Despite being ridden along throughout the middle stages, WALDORF raced detached from the field. A veterinary inspection of WALDORF, BEAUTY AMIGO and TEAM SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIA RAD, AMAZING STAR and GOLDEN DASH were sent for sampling.
