GO GO SIXTEEN began only fairly, shifted out on jumping and bumped DRAGON COMMANDER which became unbalanced. RED ELYSEES shifted out at the start, resulting in KUNGFUMASTER PANDA being bumped and taken out onto NUREMBERG which was crowded for room inside EZRA. After this, KUNGFUMASTER PANDA and NUREMBERG were steadied and shifted across behind runners from wide barriers. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, RED ELYSEES failed to muster speed and approaching the winning post on the first occasion was steadied to obtain cover. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, DRAGON COMMANDER got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied to obtain cover behind GO GO SIXTEEN. When being steadied to obtain cover, DRAGON COMMANDER shifted out and bumped JOYFUL HEART. Also passing the winning post on the first occasion, EZRA, which was racing wide, was steadied to obtain cover. Passing the 1700 Metres, GO GO SIXTEEN was awkwardly placed inside the heels of TAILOR MADE. Passing the 1600 Metres, JOYFUL HEART was left racing wide and without cover. After the 1600 Metres, TAILOR MADE travelled keenly in the lead. Approaching the 300 Metres, KUNGFUMASTER PANDA and RED ELYSEES bumped. Passing the 300 Metres, GO GO SIXTEEN, which was commencing to give ground, was awkwardly placed outside the heels of AWE which shifted to the outside of DAILY CHARM to obtain clear running. Approaching the 200 Metres, AWE was crowded for room between JOYFUL HEART and DAILY CHARM (M Chadwick) which shifted out under pressure. M Chadwick was reprimanded and told to ensure that in future he straightens his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion. Near the 75 Metres, DAILY CHARM shifted out abruptly and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of AWE. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DRAGON COMMANDER, J Moreira stated that it was felt that DRAGON COMMANDER would have sufficient speed to be able to cross runners to its inside in the early stages. He said despite being ridden along shortly after the start, DRAGON COMMANDER did not show sufficient speed to be able to cross GO GO SIXTEEN and AWE and therefore he elected to steady his mount and obtain a trailing position behind those horses. He said as he steadied DRAGON COMMANDER, that horse got its head up on a number of occasions, but after obtaining cover behind GO GO SIXTEEN then relaxed well. He said DRAGON COMMANDER travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages and he anticipated that the horse would finish off the race strongly. He said however that DRAGON COMMANDER came under pressure passing the 600 Metres and then did not respond to his riding at any stage. He added he continued to ride DRAGON COMMANDER vigorously in the early part of the Straight, however, the horse gave ground and as it was well beaten, he eased it down over the latter stages. A veterinary inspection of DRAGON COMMANDER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of DRAGON COMMANDER, favourite for today’s race and which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DRAGON COMMANDER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned, A Badel (GO GO SIXTEEN) stated that approaching the 1200 Metres his mount was racing in a two wide position behind DAILY CHARM. He said after the 1200 Metres he became aware that JOYFUL HEART was commencing to improve its position outside GO GO SIXTEEN and he was following DAILY CHARM, a horse he considered to be somewhat one-paced, he was concerned that if he remained racing behind DAILY CHARM and allowed JOYFUL HEART to improve forward of GO GO SIXTEEN, this may make it difficult for him to secure clear running later in the race. He said as the pace of the race was only moderate at this stage, he elected to shift GO GO SIXTEEN to the outside of DAILY CHARM so that the horse would not lose momentum were it to be boxed in by other runners. He said this resulted in GO GO SIXTEEN racing three wide and without cover near the 1000 Metres. He added GO GO SIXTEEN came under pressure prior to the 500 Metres and then in the Straight weakened out of the race noticeably over the latter stages. He said although GO GO SIXTEEN was required to race wide and without cover in the middle stages, he still felt that the horse was disappointing given that it came under pressure so far from the finishing line. He said based on the manner in which GO GO SIXTEEN ran today, he did recommend to connections that they consider dropping the horse back in distance in its future starts. A veterinary inspection of GO GO SIXTEEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that NUREMBERG was found to have sustained a right front tendon injury. The performance of NUREMBERG, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NUREMBERG will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of TAILOR MADE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DRAGON COMMANDER, GOD OF DRAGON and EZRA were sent for sampling.

Passing the 1300 Metres, ROMANTIC COMBO was momentarily eased away from the heels of COUNTRY BOY. L Ferraris (LOVE ME MORE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that for some distance approaching the 1000 Metres he failed to make sufficient endeavours to prevent his mount from shifting in which resulted in SHADOW RUNNER being hampered when unnecessarily crowded for room and shifting in after the 1000 Metres, resulting in ROMANTIC COMBO and KING OF THE COURT being inconvenienced. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of KING OF THE COURT, A Badel stated that, from the inside barrier, he was able to take up a good position in the early stages. He said when the pace of the race was fast in the early stages, he elected to take a trailing position behind ROMANTIC COMBO passing the 1000 Metres after racing tight inside that horse. He said he was able to follow ROMANTIC COMBO in the middle stages, however, his mount did not travel as strongly as it did at its only other start. He said he had to niggle at KING OF THE COURT prior to the 500 Metres to have the horse maintain its position and KING OF THE COURT then did not quicken as he anticipated in the early part of the Straight. He added he continued to place KING OF THE COURT under pressure, however, the horse did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to close off the race, particularly given how strongly it had finished at its only other race start. A veterinary inspection of KING OF THE COURT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of KING OF THE COURT, favourite for today’s race and which finished towards the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, KING OF THE COURT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, L Ferraris reported that LOVE ME MORE was making an abnormal breathing noise during the race. A veterinary inspection of LOVE ME MORE immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer”. Also after the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that MONSTER KAKA had bled from both nostrils. Following the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on SHADOW RUNNER at the request of Trainer P O’Sullivan. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SHADOW RUNNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of VOYAGE STAR immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. KING OF THE COURT, CHEERFUL DAYS and HEARTY WISH were sent for sampling.

LEGEND GOES got its head up on jumping, began awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was steadied and shifted across behind runners. From the outside barriers, BELLA BABY, STRATHMORETOO and WHAT A LEGEND were also all steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. M L Yeung (AWESOME TREASURE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 900 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of OUR CLASS ACT, resulting in that horse being unnecessarily hampered and having to be shifted out away from the heels of AWESOME TREASURE. HAPPY DAILY was held up for clear running from on straightening until near the 300 Metres. Passing the 350 Metres, MAN UP raced tight between GRACYLOVE and ENCHANTING START which shifted to the outside of RUN THE TABLE. After obtaining clear running to the outside of RUN THE TABLE, ENCHANTING START was awkwardly placed outside the heels of that horse and shifted out marginally after being bumped on the hindquarters by MAN UP which was racing tight inside GRACYLOVE. This resulted in MAN UP being crowded for room passing the 300 Metres. BELLA BABY, which was following MAN UP, was shifted out abruptly away from the heels of that horse in consequence. Also passing the 350 Metres, FALCON TURBO shifted out to obtain clear running and brushed OUR CLASS ACT. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LEAP OF FAITH, A Hamelin stated that, in his opinion, the horse’s failure to finish off the race was attributable to LEAP OF FAITH over-racing for a considerable distance in the early and middle stages due to the moderate tempo of the race and also stepping up in distance. He said LEAP OF FAITH would not relax for him in the middle stages and got its head up for some distance when being checked away from the heels of runners in front. He said after being held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn behind ENZEMBLE, LEAP OF FAITH then came under pressure in the early part of the Straight and did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of LEAP OF FAITH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. NABOO ATTACK began only fairly. BUDDIES and VOYAGE WARRIOR stumbled at the start. STRONGER and HARMONY AND RICH bumped heavily at the start, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. From a wide barrier, WISHFUL THINKER was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1000 Metres, DUKE WAI got its head up when awkwardly placed behind SUPER WEALTHY. After the 1000 Metres, STRONGER was eased away from the heels of COURIER WONDER which shifted in when just clear. Approaching the 900 Metres, NABOO ATTACK shifted out of its own accord and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPER WEALTHY. NABOO ATTACK then got its head up and made the turn after the 900 Metres awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in DUKE WAI losing ground when taken out across the heels of COURIER WONDER. After the 600 Metres, DUKE WAI raced tight between STRONGER and NABOO ATTACK. At the entrance to the Straight, BUDDIES raced tight outside SKY FIELD which shifted to the outside of HARMONY AND RICH to obtain clear running. COURIER WONDER had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and then passing the 300 Metres was very awkwardly placed close to the heels of both HARMONY AND RICH and SUPER WEALTHY when being shifted to the inside of HARMONY AND RICH in an attempt to obtain clear running. When COURIER WONDER shifted in, NABOO ATTACK was inconvenienced in consequence. After the 300 Metres, HARMONY AND RICH was bumped by SUPER WEALTHY which shifted to the outside of VOYAGE WARRIOR to obtain clear running. Approaching the 250 Metres, COMPUTER PATCH raced tight inside LUCKY PATCH which shifted in. For the majority of the race, LUCKY PATCH travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the performance of SKY FIELD, B Shinn stated that he was asked to have SKY FIELD racing in a more handy position than had been the case due to the horse having drawn barrier 2 and having VOYAGE WARRIOR, a horse which obtained a forward position, drawn to its inside. He said SKY FIELD began well and was able to obtain a forward position without having to be vigorously ridden along. He said he had to make some use of the horse passing the 1100 Metres to prevent BUDDIES from shifting in to race in front of SKY FIELD as he did not want to be following that horse in the latter stages of the race. He said in the middle stages SKY FIELD travelled comfortably albeit he had to again niggle at SKY FIELD passing the 800 Metres to maintain its position inside BUDDIES. He said at the entrance to the Straight he was able to shift to the outside of HARMONY AND RICH to obtain clear running, however, SKY FIELD, which was carrying top weight in today’s race, did not quicken as well as he anticipated and then over the latter stages of the race was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race. He added that given the manner in which SKY FIELD raced today, he was of the opinion that the horse may be better suited by being ridden more quietly and advised the connections of this immediately after the race. A veterinary inspection of SKY FIELD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned regarding the performance of NABOO ATTACK, A Badel stated that after the horse became unbalanced approaching the 900 Metres, he was able to obtain a trailing position behind SUPER WEALTHY. He said NABOO ATTACK travelled strongly in the middle stages and quickened satisfactorily at the top of the Straight. He said near the 300 Metres NABOO ATTACK was crowded for room inside COURIER WONDER which resulted in the horse losing momentum. He said after this NABOO ATTACK was not able to rebalance and then finished off the race only fairly over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of NABOO ATTACK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of BUDDIES, COURIER WONDER and HARMONY AND RICH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. COURIER WONDER, LUCKY PATCH and SUPER WEALTHY were sent for sampling.

CELESTIAL POWER shifted out at the start and brushed BERLIN TANGO. From the outside barriers, CHEFANO and SAVAQUIN were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. After travelling a short distance, ZEBROWSKI shifted out and bumped C P BRAVE. Approaching the 250 Metres, SUPER FOOTBALL was bumped by C P BRAVE which, after being held up for clear running after the 300 Metres, shifted to the outside of ENJOYING. Then approaching the 200 Metres, C P BRAVE and SUPER FOOTBALL brushed. Close to the finishing line, ENJOYING and C P BRAVE raced tight. When questioned, H Bentley stated that he was instructed to obtain a midfield position on CHARITY GO. He said in the early stages he was following SUPER FOOTBALL and when that horse cleared runners to its inside, it appeared as though its rider may continue to shift SUPER FOOTBALL to race on the rail in advance of FLYING QUEST. He said when SUPER FOOTBALL remained racing in a one-off position, this resulted in CHARITY GO racing three wide and without cover. He said he was aware that the pace of the race in the early and middle stages was not fast and for this reason he did consider allowing CHARITY GO to improve to obtain a position closer to the rail, however, as CHARITY GO was not over-racing and was travelling comfortably and given his instructions to have the horse racing in about a midfield position, he elected not to allow CHARITY GO to continue forward which would have resulted in the horse either leading or having to sit outside the lead. A veterinary inspection of SUPER FOOTBALL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. C P BRAVE, CELESTIAL POWER and ZEBROWSKI were sent for sampling.

KA YING STAR shifted out at the start and hampered TOURBILLON DIAMOND. WAIKUKU stumbled at the start, shifted out and brushed RUSSIAN EMPEROR. After the race, Z Purton reported that, in his opinion, WAIKUKU overreached on jumping and this was the reason for the horse stumbling. A veterinary inspection of WAIKUKU immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BUTTERFIELD began only fairly and then was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. GLORIOUS DRAGON, COLUMBUS COUNTY and PRECIOUSSHIP were all steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. After travelling a short distance, TOURBILLON DIAMOND raced in restricted room between KA YING STAR and WAIKUKU. After the 1000 Metres, TOURBILLON DIAMOND was left racing wide and without cover. Approaching the 900 Metres, TOURBILLON DIAMOND was bumped by WAIKUKU which shifted out marginally away from the heels of SOUTHERN LEGEND before shifting in to resume its position behind that horse. WAIKUKU was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 150 Metres was steadied away from the heels of TOURBILLON DIAMOND (A Badel) which shifted in. WAIKUKU then continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running and close to the finishing line was again steadied away from the heels of TOURBILLON DIAMOND. A Badel was reprimanded and told to ensure that he keeps his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances. GLORIOUS DRAGON was unable to obtain clear running over the final 300 Metres and consequently was not able to be tested. Approaching the 100 Metres, CHAMPION’S WAY was shifted in away from the heels of SOUTHERN LEGEND which shifted in marginally after being bumped on the hindquarters by WAIKUKU. Near the 100 Metres, BUTTERFIELD was awkwardly placed outside the heels of TOURBILLON DIAMOND. Approaching the 50 Metres, RUSSIAN EMPEROR raced tight between SKY DARCI and COLUMBUS COUNTY. When questioned, J Moreira (SKY DARCI) stated that, from barrier 11, he was asked to shift his mount across behind runners and it was hoped that SKY DARCI could obtain a position behind midfield but in front of some runners if possible. He said in the early stages horses drawn inside SKY DARCI were able to maintain their positions and for this reason he had no alternative but to shift his mount behind COLUMBUS COUNTY to obtain cover which resulted in SKY DARCI racing further back in the field than had been anticipated. He said after the 700 Metres he commenced to angle his mount to the outside of RUSSIAN EMPEROR, however, SKY DARCI lay in and was reluctant to shift out. He said he continued to angle SKY DARCI out with a view to following RUSSIAN EMPEROR after the 600 Metres and eventually working its way to the outside of COLUMBUS COUNTY to obtain clear running. He said SKY DARCI continued to lay in and would not shift to the outside of RUSSIAN EMPEROR and for this reason he changed his whip over from his left hand into his right hand near the 500 Metres. He said he used the whip rounding the Home Turn to have SKY DARCI respond to his riding, however, he was not able to shift SKY DARCI out at this time. He added approaching the 400 Metres he was able to direct SKY DARCI out to be following RUSSIAN EMPEROR, however, at this time he was racing inside the heels of COLUMBUS COUNTY, about one length behind that horse. He said in order to shift to the outside of COLUMBUS COUNTY, he would have had to steady his mount so as to clear that horse’s heels which would have given PRECIOUSSHIP the advantage over SKY DARCI and this would have resulted in SKY DARCI being unable to continue to shift to the outside of COLUMBUS COUNTY. He added he therefore elected to obtain inside runs and near the 350 Metres shifted to the inside of RUSSIAN EMPEROR in order to follow PANFIELD through. He said after improving between BUTTERFIELD and RUSSIAN EMPEROR and when racing behind PANFIELD, SKY DARCI was unable to obtain clear running over the final 150 Metres which resulted in the horse not being able to be properly tested. SKY DARCI, PANFIELD and PRECIOUSSHIP were sent for sampling.
