ROCKET GO began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of CAPTAIN BOSS, resulting in ROCKET GO losing ground. SKY GEM began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped PROUD SKY. After this, PROUD SKY failed to muster speed despite being ridden along. INVESTOR BOOM shifted out at the start and bumped ABOVE. ABOVE was then momentarily crowded for room inside LITTLE FANTASY which shifted in. Approaching the 900 Metres, WHAMPOA STAR was steadied away from the heels of GOOD RUNNERS WAY. Near the 550 Metres, SKY GEM was steadied when disappointed for running between ABOVE and WHAMPOA STAR which shifted out. In this incident, ABOVE was bumped on the hindquarters by SKY GEM. Passing the 550 Metres, PROUD SKY was inconvenienced when YOUNG GLORY shifted out. Near the 150 Metres, LETSGOFREE was inconvenienced when crowded for room between PROUD SKY and INVESTOR BOOM which was awkwardly placed outside WHAMPOA STAR. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on CAPTAIN BOSS at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CAPTAIN BOSS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of PROUD SKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of LITTLE FANTASY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. ABOVE and MISTER MONTE were sent for sampling.

YEE CHEONG LUCKY was withdrawn on 13.7.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BLISSFUL EIGHT (M Harley). Before being allowed to race again, YEE CHEONG LUCKY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WHISKY KNIGHT was slow to begin and then was bumped by HARBOUR CENTURY which shifted out. RICHCITY FORTUNE and RUN MOOCHI bumped at the start. GOLDEN CANNON was crowded for room on jumping between NEVER BETTER which was racing tight outside RAICHU and XIANG HUANG QI which shifted in. After this, both NEVER BETTER and GOLDEN CANNON were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. A short distance after the start, ADONIS was momentarily eased away from the heels of FORMULA GALORE. In this incident, ADONIS shifted in, resulting in XIANG HUANG QI being momentarily crowded for room. After this, XIANG HUANG QI was taken across behind runners. Near the 750 Metres, HARBOUR CENTURY, which was laying out, got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in RUN MOOCHI being inconvenienced. After this, HARBOUR CENTURY continued to lay out rounding the turns. Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, ADONIS and SUNNY ORIENT raced tight as ADONIS attempted to shift out into clear running. Approaching the 100 Metres, RAICHU shifted in under pressure, requiring its rider to stop riding and correct the horse. At the 75 Metres, the whip of M F Poon (KEEP GOING) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of G van Niekerk (NEVER BETTER). Throughout the race, KEEP GOING travelled wide and without cover. BLISSFUL EIGHT also travelled wide and without cover and subsequently finished tailed out. The performance of BLISSFUL EIGHT was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BLISSFUL EIGHT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, Z Purton (ADONIS) stated that his mount over-raced badly in the early and middle stages and got its head up on a number of occasions when having to be checked away from the heels of SUNNY ORIENT. He said ADONIS did not settle until after the 600 Metres and consequently was not able to finish off the race. He added although ADONIS was momentarily crowded for room between SUNNY ORIENT and NEVER BETTER passing the 200 Metres, this was of little significance as the horse was already under pressure at this time. A veterinary inspection of ADONIS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of WHISKY KNIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ADONIS, FORMULA GALORE and HARBOUR CENTURY were sent for sampling.

FREE VIEW and DIVINE POWER began only fairly. CITY LEGEND was crowded for room on jumping between HAVE FUN TOGETHER which shifted in and BREEZE OF SPRING which shifted out after beginning awkwardly. CASIMIRO and SHOUSON bumped shortly after the start. After travelling a short distance, PEARL CHAMPION was shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier. After the 1000 Metres, both SHOUSON and FORTUNATE RUNNER were left racing wide and without cover. Approaching the 600 Metres, CASIMIRO and PEARL CHAMPION raced tight. At the entrance to the Straight, CASIMIRO was initially directed towards the outside of FORTUNATE RUNNER to improve between that horse and PEARL CHAMPION. When FORTUNATE RUNNER was taken out by BLOOMING SPIRIT, CASIMIRO was then shifted to the inside of FORTUNATE RUNNER to improve. Then passing the 300 Metres, CASIMIRO was checked when disappointed for running between BLOOMING SPIRIT and SHOUSON which was also checked when crowded for room outside TELECOM ROCKET (M F Poon) which got its head on the side and lay out. M F Poon was reprimanded and advised whilst the Stewards accepted that TELECOM ROCKET was laying out and that he did stop riding and straighten the horse, nonetheless, in the opinion of the Stewards, he should have reacted quicker than he did on this occasion to his mount shifting ground. After this, CASIMIRO had difficulty obtaining clear running and near the 150 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of FORTUNATE RUNNER to obtain clear running. CITY LEGEND was steadied away from the heels of BREEZE OF SPRING at the 400 Metres. Then after passing the 400 Metres, DIVINE POWER momentarily raced tight inside BREEZE OF SPRING which improved into tight running inside TELECOM ROCKET. Passing the 300 Metres, SMILING SUCCESS (M L Yeung) shifted in under pressure, resulting in BREEZE OF SPRING, which was improving quickly inside SMILING SUCCESS, becoming badly unbalanced when crowded for room near the 200 Metres. SMILING SUCCESS was then shifted out to relieve the tightening to BREEZE OF SPRING. Whilst the Stewards accepted that BREEZE OF SPRING had improved its position quickly to be racing inside SMILING SUCCESS, M L Yeung was nonetheless advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Passing the 100 Metres, BLOOMING SPIRIT raced tight inside FORTUNATE RUNNER. When questioned, M F Poon stated that he was asked to ride TELECOM ROCKET behind the speed if possible from the good barrier. He said TELECOM ROCKET showed good early speed and he did not have to make too much use of the horse in the early stages to obtain a forward position. He said TELECOM ROCKET initially took some time to quicken, however, when able to shift to the outside of ALL YOU NEED after the 250 Metres, TELECOM ROCKET then finished off the race well and he considered the horse’s finishing effort to be similar to that of last start when it was ridden from towards the rear of the field. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on PEARL CHAMPION at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PEARL CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SHOUSON and ALL YOU NEED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, both horses were unable to be scoped due to being fractious. A veterinary inspection of CITY LEGEND, DIVINE POWER and ROYAL CHOCOLATE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BREEZE OF SPRING, HAVE FUN TOGETHER and PEARL CHAMPION were sent for sampling.

SPICY REALLY began awkwardly and then was steadied away from the heels of MONEYMORE which shifted out abruptly, Shortly after the start, BLASTOISE got its head up when crowded for room inside APOLLOS BOW which shifted in marginally before being corrected by its rider. From wide barriers, COLORADO HIGH, WINNING TOGETHER and PLAY TO WIN were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Despite being vigorously ridden for some distance in the early stages, BINGO took some time to muster speed. Approaching the 900 Metres, MONEYMORE became unbalanced of its own accord, got its head on the side and shifted out. Near the 800 Metres, SPICY REALLY was momentarily tightened for room inside MONKEY JEWELLERY which was racing tight inside SUPER KIN. After the 700 Metres, MONEYMORE got its head on the side and lay out. After the 600 Metres, MONEYMORE, which continued to lay out, raced tight outside BINGO which improved between MONEYMORE and APOLLOS BOW. After the 400 Metres, SUPER EIGHTEEN was held up for clear running and near the 300 Metres was crowded when improving into very tight running between EIGHT TRIGRAMS and SOLAR VICTORY which was commencing to give ground. In this incident, SOLAR VICTORY became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by SUPER EIGHTEEN. SOLAR VICTORY then continued to give ground. A veterinary inspection of SOLAR VICTORY immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a minor wound to the right hind cannon. MONKEY JEWELLERY lost its left front plate in the early part of the Straight. SUPER KIN travelled wide and without cover until near the 600 Metres. After the race, Z Purton reported that SUPER KIN made a number of abnormal breathing noises during the race. A veterinary inspection of SUPER KIN immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER KIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. The performance of PLAY TO WIN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PLAY TO WIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of PLAY TO WIN immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. When questioned, G van Niekerk (SUPER EIGHTEEN) stated that approaching the first turn after the 900 Metres he was racing one horse off the rail and had EIGHT TRIGRAMS racing to the outside and in advance of SUPER EIGHTEEN. He said as EIGHT TRIGRAMS was travelling better than SUPER EIGHTEEN at this time and as he did not wish to race on the rail, he elected to steady SUPER EIGHTEEN rather than remain racing inside EIGHT TRIGRAMS as had he have continued to race inside that horse, he would have been taken to the rail as EIGHT TRIGRAMS shifted in. He said it was also his intention to shift to the outside of runners if possible rounding the Home Turn. He said however that when a number of runners including EIGHT TRIGRAMS commenced to shift out approaching the 500 Metres, he believed he would have had to shift SUPER EIGHTEEN unnecessarily wide to improve around runners and therefore he elected to commence riding his mount along and improve inside EIGHT TRIGRAMS. He added after racing tight between EIGHT TRIGRAMS and SOLAR VICTORY at the 300 Metres, he elected to direct to the outside of EIGHT TRIGRAMS approaching the 250 Metres. He said as he did this clear running developed to the inside of EIGHT TRIGRAMS, however, at this stage he had already committed to shift to the outside of that horse. He said after obtaining clear running near the 200 Metres, SUPER EIGHTEEN then finished off the race well. MONKEY JEWELLERY and EIGHT TRIGRAMS were sent for sampling.

AEROFLASH lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently was slow to begin. MY POWER began only fairly and then lost ground when bumped by JOY MASTER which was taken out by MY WINNER. DRAGON LEGEND shifted out at the start and bumped SLEEP EDUCATION. On jumping, Apprentice K H Chan (CARE FREE PRINCE) lost the use of his left stirrup iron which he was unable to regather until approaching the 1300 Metres. Because of this, CARE FREE PRINCE, which normally races in a forward position, raced towards the rear of the field. FALCON TURBO began awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners. BANDY was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages from a wide barrier. Approaching the 1400 Metres, SUPREME PLUS raced tight between BULB ELITE and CIRCUIT THREE which shifted in before being directed back out. Near the 1150 Metres, MY POWER, which had been ridden along to improve its position, shifted in abruptly when being checked away from the heels of DRAGON LEGEND. Near the 750 Metres, BANDY raced tight between CARE FREE PRINCE and JOY MASTER which shifted to the outside of AEROFLASH. Passing the 700 Metres, BULB ELITE was steadied away from the heels of DRAGON LEGEND. SUPREME PLUS was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 400 Metres shifted out and bumped MY POWER which became unbalanced. SUPREME PLUS continued to be held up for clear running until near the 350 Metres at which stage tight running between KA YING BRILLIANCE and MY POWER momentarily developed. Then, passing the 300 Metres, SUPREME PLUS was checked when crowded for room between MY POWER which lay in and KA YING BRILLIANCE, which was racing tight outside CIRCUIT THREE, which shifted out marginally. As the Stewards were satisfied that there was no rider error associated with this incident, no further action was taken. Near the 100 Metres, SLEEP EDUCATION shifted in abruptly, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten his mount. Throughout the race, KA YING BRILLIANCE travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of DRAGON LEGEND immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, DRAGON LEGEND will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of MY POWER, CARE FREE PRINCE and SUPREME PLUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CIRCUIT THREE and MY WINNER were sent for sampling.

SUPER HERO was withdrawn on 13.7.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GOOD DAYS (V Borges). Before being allowed to race again, SUPER HERO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. G van Niekerk (AMAZING AGILITY) was fined $2,000 for failing to initially weigh out with a girth. When proceeding to the barriers, A Sanna was dislodged from FULL OF CHANCES without incident. FULL OF CHANCES was quickly recaptured with A Sanna remounting the horse before again proceeding to the Start. Just prior to the start being effected, CROWN AVENUE put its head to the left, resulting in the horse losing ground at the start. GORGEOUS AGAIN and CHEERFUL STAR bumped at the start. From wide barriers, BULLISH GLORY and KING’S MAN were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. After the 1500 Metres, CROWN AVENUE got its head up when awkwardly placed behind GOOD DAYS. After the 900 Metres, CHEERFUL STAR was left racing wide and without cover. After the 800 Metres, FULL OF CHANCES got its head on the side and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of AMAZING AGILITY. Near the 350 Metres, V Borges (GOOD DAYS) momentarily dropped his left rein. Approaching the 300 Metres, CROWN AVENUE raced tight between GORGEOUS AGAIN and SMART ROCKET. Throughout the race, MCQUEEN travelled very wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground and subsequently finished tailed out. The performance of MCQUEEN was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MCQUEEN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUNNY POWER lost its left front plate after the race. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GORGEOUS AGAIN, A Domeyer stated that the horse travelled more keenly today than it did at its most recent start when it finished second for him. He said he had to make some use of GORGEOUS AGAIN in the early stages to clear SUNNY POWER to his inside and after shifting in to race outside SMART ROCKET passing the 1400 Metres, GORGEOUS AGAIN did not relax as well as what he had hoped. He said GORGEOUS AGAIN came under pressure rounding the Home Turn and he was initially happy with the response as GORGEOUS AGAIN quickened satisfactorily. He added however that GORGEOUS AGAIN came under pressure after the 300 Metres and then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of GORGEOUS AGAIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. A veterinary inspection of SUNNY POWER and MCQUEEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DEFINING MOMENT and DOR DOR were sent for sampling.

ARDENODE was crowded for room on jumping between SOLOMON’S BAY and BALLISTIC KING which shifted out abruptly. In this incident, ARDENODE made heavy contact with SOLOMON’S BAY which became unbalanced, shifted out and inconvenienced CLASSIC POSH which was then crowded for room inside REEL BIZZY which shifted out at the start and bumped heavily with WORLD FAMOUS, causing REEL BIZZY to become unbalanced and WORLD FAMOUS to lose ground. From wide barriers, DECISIVE ACTION and BREEDERS’ SKY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 900 Metres, ARDENODE got its head up when travelling keenly and awkwardly placed behind LET’S TAKE IT EASY. Approaching the 900 Metres, DECISIVE ACTION was awkwardly placed outside the heels of ARDENODE After the 200 Metres, HELLO BEAUTY shifted out under pressure. When questioned, M F Poon stated that he was given similar instructions to those he had been provided with on REEL BIZZY at its most recent start which was to obtain a position in about midfield with cover. He said in today’s race he was asked to again attempt to obtain a midfield position one horse off the rail or if three wide to ensure that he was able to obtain cover. He said REEL BIZZY began better today than it did last start and he was left racing in advance of CLASSIC POSH and to that horse’s outside. He said he felt that he would have had to heavily restrain REEL BIZZY in an attempt to obtain a position behind CLASSIC POSH and therefore he allowed his mount to shift over with that horse. He said as he felt that REEL BIZZY was going to be left racing wide and possibly without cover, he elected to ride his mount forward of CLASSIC POSH and SOLOMON’S BAY after the 1100 Metres so that REEL BIZZY did not have to cover unnecessary ground. He added this resulted in REEL BIZZY being ridden in a more prominent position than had been intended. He said in the Straight REEL BIZZY did not quicken and finished off the race only one-paced. Mr C S Shum, the trainer of REEL BIZZY, confirmed the instructions given to M F Poon were to ride the horse in about midfield or just worse than midfield with cover if possible. He said after considering the circumstances of the race he was satisfied with Jockey Poon’s decision to take up a more forward position, however, he is of the opinion that REEL BIZZY is better suited when being able to be ridden from off the speed. A veterinary inspection of REEL BIZZY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned, U Rispoli (AMBITIOUS HEART) stated that, from the inside barrier, it was anticipated that the horse would take up a handy position. He said however that AMBITIOUS HEART travelled only fairly and after allowing HELLO BEAUTY to cross, he was unable to prevent BALLISTIC KING from crossing AMBITIOUS HEART near the 800 Metres as his mount would not pick up in order to maintain its position inside that horse. He said he therefore elected to take a trailing position behind BALLISTIC KING as he felt that continuing to pursue this run would result in AMBITIOUS HEART not finishing off the race. He said because of these factors AMBITIOUS HEART raced further back in the field than had been anticipated. A veterinary inspection of AMBITIOUS HEART immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. AEROHAPPINESS and HELLO BEAUTY were sent for sampling.

WORLD RECORD and HARMONY VICTORY were steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 650 Metres, WINNER’S WAY momentarily raced in restricted room inside HARMONY VICTORY. After the 650 Metres, DINOZZO shifted out and bumped WORLD RECORD which was forced wider. In the early part of the Straight, both KA YING STAR and DOCTOR GEOFF lay in. Passing the 300 Metres, TIME TO CELEBRATE shifted in and made contact with GOOD STANDING. Approaching the 100 Metres, CITRON SPIRIT raced tight inside the heels of DOCTOR GEOFF and approaching the 50 Metres was awkwardly placed outside the heels of KA YING STAR. When questioned, M Chadwick (RAGING BLITZKRIEG) stated that it was anticipated that MISSION TYCOON and KA YING STAR would lead the race and therefore he was asked to obtain a trailing position behind those horses, preferably one horse off the rail. He said RAGING BLITZKRIEG began well and he immediately steadied his mount to obtain a trailing position behind MISSION TYCOON which had been ridden along. He said in the early stages KA YING STAR was racing inside MISSION TYCOON and it appeared as though he would be able to obtain the position as instructed. He said when GOOD STANDING remained racing one horse off the rail to his inside, he was obliged to allow RAGING BLITZKRIEG to improve to cross that horse approaching the 1300 Metres. He said when KA YING STAR was steadied to allow MISSION TYCOON to cross, this resulted in RAGING BLITZKRIEG being left racing without cover. He said after the 1300 Metres RAGING BLITZKRIEG commenced to prove very difficult to settle and improved its position of its own accord to be racing outside MISSION TYCOON. He said he attempted to steady RAGING BLITZKRIEG to remain racing to that horse’s outside, however, RAGING BLITZKRIEG was travelling too strongly and he was not able to remain racing directly to the outside of MISSION TYCOON. He added after the 1100 Metres he elected to allow RAGING BLITZKRIEG to cross MISSION TYCOON in the hope that the horse would then settle better in the lead rather than racing on terms with MISSION TYCOON. He said however that after clearing MISSION TYCOON passing the 1000 Metres, RAGING BLITZKRIEG continued to prove very difficult to settle and would not relax and this resulted in the early and middle stages being run at a very fast tempo. After viewing the videos, the Stewards accepted M Chadwick’s explanation. After the race, Z Purton stated that in light of GOOD STANDING’s disappointing run, he formed the view that the horse may be better suited in races over a shorter distance than today’s race. He said although GOOD STANDING had been successful at 1600 Metres previously, the manner in which the horse did not find the line today indicated to him that races over a shorter distance as was the case of the horse’s recent start when successful may suit GOOD STANDING better. A veterinary inspection of GOOD STANDING immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD STANDING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of MISSION TYCOON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GOOD STANDING, HARMONY VICTORY and TIME TO CELEBRATE were sent for sampling.

BOMBAY BLITZ was withdrawn on 13.7.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter CHAIRMAN LO. Before being allowed to race again, BOMBAY BLITZ will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SONIC FIGHTER and GOOD BEAUTY bumped at the start as did JOLLY CONVERGENCE and SMILING CHARM. From wide barriers, ASSIMILATE and CHAIRMAN LO were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. For some distance after the 1200 Metres, YOUNG LEGEND proved very difficult to settle and shifted ground on a number of occasions. CHAIRMAN LO was awkwardly placed behind GOOD BEAUTY passing the 400 Metres. CHAIRMAN LO, which was improving into tight running, and JOLLY HONOUR were both steadied when crowded for room near the 350 Metres between YOUNG LEGEND and GOOD BEAUTY, both of which shifted marginal ground. At the same stage, ASSIMILATE, which was experiencing difficulty obtaining clear running, shifted in away from SMILING CHARM after racing tight inside that horse and in doing so bumped JOLLY HONOUR, causing ASSIMILATE to be hampered and JOLLY HONOUR to be further hampered. Passing the 250 Metres, LITTLE WISE MAN, which was commencing to give ground, was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of YOUNG LEGEND which shifted in. After this, LITTLE WISE MAN gave ground, resulting in JOLLY HONOUR being shifted out away from the heels of that horse near the 200 Metres. A veterinary inspection of LITTLE WISE MAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Throughout the race, JOLLY CONVERGENCE and LITTLE WISE MAN travelled wide and without cover. Mr C S Shum, the trainer of YOUNG LEGEND, stated that after being successful when ridden in a forward position two starts ago, he had been disappointed with the manner in which the horse had failed to finish off the race at its last start. He said, from barrier 11, if YOUNG LEGEND were to take up a forward position, the horse would be left racing without cover and he is of the view that it may be better suited when ridden behind runners. He said although he anticipated the pace of the race would not be strong, he instructed G van Niekerk, the rider of YOUNG LEGEND, to ride the horse more conservatively today to ensure that it had cover. He said although YOUNG LEGEND over-raced in the early stages, he was satisfied with the manner in which the horse closed off the race which, in his opinion, confirmed that YOUNG LEGEND is better suited when ridden with cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ASSIMILATE had sustained a laceration to the outside of the right front cannon. A veterinary inspection of SMILING CHARM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SONIC FIGHTER, MORE THAN THIS and MY DARLING were sent for sampling. <15/7/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that SONIC FIGHTER was lame in its right hind leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SONIC FIGHTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

BEAUTY DAY was withdrawn on 12.7.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right front capped elbow) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GENERAL DINO (M L Yeung). Before being allowed to race again, BEAUTY DAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On arrival at the Start, G van Niekerk expressed concern regarding the action of RIGHT HONOURABLE in that the horse appeared restricted in its action. A veterinary examination of RIGHT HONOURABLE could not detect any obvious abnormalities. As G van Niekerk was not comfortable to ride RIGHT HONOURABLE, that horse was withdrawn from the race by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, RIGHT HONOURABLE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPY SEBRING was slow to begin. SMILING PRIDE shifted in at the start and bumped MARQULA. From wide barriers, SARRI and EVER LAUGH were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. When being ridden along aggressively to obtain the lead, CORDYCEPS shifted out abruptly near the 1500 Metres and bumped heavily with LUCKY TIME which was being shifted in from a wide barrier. This resulted in both horses becoming badly unbalanced. Passing the 250 Metres, CORDYCEPS and BUDDIES raced tight. Then approaching the 200 Metres, CORDYCEPS shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of BUDDIES, causing both horses to become unbalanced. After passing the 200 Metres, BUDDIES and LUCKY TIME raced tight due to both horses shifting ground. Near the 100 Metres, LUCKY TIME shifted in and bumped BUDDIES which was awkwardly placed outside the heels of CORDYCEPS which shifted out. A veterinary inspection of BUDDIES and SARRI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CORDYCEPS, HAPPY SEBRING and VINCY were sent for sampling.

KING OPIE and GLORIOUS SPECTRUM began only fairly. LOBO’S LEGEND began awkwardly. From wide barriers, SICHUAN DAR, MR SO AND SO, FAST MOST FURIOUS and GORGEOUS KING were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the 850 Metres, CALIFORNIA WHIP was left racing wide and without cover. At the 400 Metres, LOBO’S LEGEND became unbalanced when crowded for room inside CRUISING which was giving ground abruptly. CRUISING subsequently finished tailed out. The performance of CRUISING was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CRUISING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. U Rispoli (GLORIOUS SPECTRUM) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 250 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of CALIFORNIA WHIP, resulting in that horse being checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. In the circumstances, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for U Rispoli to be fined the sum of $60,000 in lieu of a period of suspension incorporating two racemeetings. Passing the 100 Metres, HEZTHEWONFORUS shifted in abruptly after being brushed by ELUSIVE STATE which was racing tight inside KING OPIE which got its head on the side and shifted in away from GLORIOUS SPECTRUM. When HEZTHEWONFORUS shifted in abruptly, LOBO’S LEGEND was crowded for room and consequently was not able to be ridden out over the concluding stages. After the race, Z Purton stated that at this stage of THANKS FOREVER’s career, the horse did not appear to him to appreciate stepping up to 1400 Metres for the first time. He said THANKS FOREVER is still relatively immature and having only its 5th race start today. He said after being placed under pressure in the early part of the Straight, THANKS FOREVER initially responded satisfactorily, however, commenced to give ground at the 300 Metres and then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of THANKS FOREVER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
