Shortly after the start, ENJOYABLE SUCCESS raced tight inside SPEEDY WALLY which shifted in. Approaching the 1700 Metres, YOUNG GLORY momentarily raced tight between BREAK RECORD and MCMUNIGAL which shifted in before being directed back out to relieve the tightening to YOUNG GLORY. Approaching the 1600 Metres, GARLIC YEAH and YOUNG GLORY raced tight. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, VICTORIOUS SEEKER shifted in and brushed GOLD VELVET. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, GARLIC YEAH was momentarily steadied away from the heels of GOLD VELVET. Near the 1000 Metres, LITTLE ISLAND was left racing wide and without cover. Approaching the 700 Metres, SPEEDY WALLY was taken wider by YOUNG GLORY which shifted out away from the heels of VICTORIOUS SEEKER. SPEEDY WALLY was then steadied passing the 700 Metres to obtain cover behind YOUNG GLORY. VICTORIOUS SEEKER was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn. GARLIC YEAH was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 200 Metres was steadied when disappointed for a run between ASSOCIATION FANS and BREAK RECORD. After this, GARLIC YEAH was shifted to the inside of ASSOCIATION FANS to obtain clear running. Passing the 300 Metres, BREAK RECORD and YOUNG GLORY made contact. After this, YOUNG GLORY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of BREAK RECORD until near the 250 Metres. Passing the 100 Metres, C Schofield (GOLD VELVET) experienced difficulty in gathering his left rein. After the 100 Metres, WICKER raced tight inside ENJOYABLE SUCCESS which, after improving to the inside of MCMUNIGAL, was taken in marginally by that horse. Close to the finishing line, MCMUNIGAL was steadied away from the heels of GOLD VELVET which shifted in under pressure. C Schofield was reprimanded and advised to ensure that in similar circumstances he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. When questioned, N Callan stated that, from the outside barrier, he was asked to ride DIVINE POWER positively in the early stages and obtain a forward position with the option to lead. He said he rode his mount along in the early stages and DIVINE POWER was able to shift across runners to its inside to obtain the lead passing the winning post on the first occasion. He said after obtaining the lead, he elected to steady the tempo on DIVINE POWER, however, when MCMUNIGAL was ridden along to race outside DIVINE POWER, his mount travelled keenly in the lead with the blinkers on. He said DIVINE POWER travelled strongly until after the 800 Metres when he was able to relax the tempo, however, it came under pressure rounding the Home Turn and in the Straight gave ground. He added, based on the manner in which DIVINE POWER raced tonight, he recommended to connections that they consider removing the blinkers from the horse in its future starts and bringing it back in distance. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SPEEDY WALLY, Z Purton stated that his mount was fractious in the barriers and then with the pace of the race being good, did not travel strongly. He said rounding the Home Turn SPEEDY WALLY got its head on the side and lay out and then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of SPEEDY WALLY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. WICKER, GOLD VELVET and ENJOYABLE SUCCESS were sent for sampling.

GUNNAR shifted in on jumping and bumped VIGOR CHAMP which became badly unbalanced and shifted in, causing PERFECT HARMONY to lose ground when crowded between VIGOR CHAMP and ARES which on jumping was brushed by GOLDEN MISSION which shifted out. GRACYLOVE began only fairly and then was steadied away from the heels of BETTER CHOICE which, after initially being taken out by ALL WONGCHOY, shifted out away from that horse. From the outside barrier, LET’S GO PARTY was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Passing the 1000 Metres, VIGOR CHAMP got its head on the side and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of LET’S GO PARTY. Passing the 900 Metres, THE SHOW momentarily raced tight inside COLONEL which got its head on the side and lay in. Passing the 850 Metres, COLONEL was left racing wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of BETTER CHOICE and COLONEL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ARES and THE SHOW were sent for sampling.

PERFECT TO PLAY was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of ENJOY LIFE which shifted out. BULB ELITE shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of HARRIER JET which stumbled on jumping. This resulted in BULB ELITE becoming unbalanced and losing ground. From wide barriers, NITRO EXPRESS and LET’S TAKE IT EASY were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Approaching the 1200 Metres, BLOOMING SPIRIT, which was being steadied to obtain cover, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of HARRIER JET which shifted in. DIAMOND LEGEND travelled wide and without cover until after the 900 Metres at which stage LET’S TAKE IT EASY was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 500 Metres, TUNG WAH GLORY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ENJOY LIFE when unable to proceed between that horse and LET’S TAKE IT EASY. In this incident, TUNG WAH GLORY and LET’S TAKE IT EASY bumped, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. In the early part of the Straight, ENJOY LIFE and LET’S TAKE IT EASY raced tight. ENJOY LIFE then had some difficulty obtaining clear running when attempting to improve into a tight run between LET’S TAKE IT EASY and BULB ELITE. Then passing the 150 Metres, ENJOY LIFE was steadied when disappointed for running between LET’S TAKE IT EASY and BULB ELITE which raced tight outside SUNNY POWER. SUNNY POWER had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 200 Metres. Over the final 200 Metres, DOR DOR was unable to obtain clear running and consequently was not tested. PERFECT TO PLAY had some difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 150 Metres. DOR DOR, SUNNY POWER and BULB ELITE were sent for sampling.

SUPER LUCKY began only fairly. THOU SHALL SING was crowded for room on jumping between CONFUCIUS DAY and VERY SWEET ORANGE, both of which shifted ground. E GENERATION shifted out at the start and was steadied away from the heels of DR PROACTIVE. After this, both E GENERATION and DR PROACTIVE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the 800 Metres, BEAUT BEAUT commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover. Then near the 750 Metres, BEAUT BEAUT was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY GOOD GUYS which was taken in by VERY SWEET ORANGE. Approaching the 600 Metres, AURORA STEED was steadied when crowded for room between BEAUT BEAUT and WINNING WAYS (Z Purton) which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the tightening to AURORA STEED. Z Purton was reprimanded and advised to ensure that runners to his inside have comfortable racing room and to make every endeavour at the earliest opportunity to relieve any tightening. Near the 450 Metres, SUPER LUCKY and AURORA STEED raced tight. Passing the 300 Metres, THOU SHALL SING was shifted out away from the heels of AURORA STEED which was taken wider by SUPER LUCKY which shifted to the outside of BEAUT BEAUT to obtain clear running. Also passing the 300 Metres, OVERSUBSCRIBED was hampered by WINNER’S HEART which shifted in. Throughout the race, WINNING WAYS travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of BEAUT BEAUT, WINNER’S HEART and HAPPY GOOD GUYS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on WINNING WAYS at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING WAYS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. OVERSUBSCRIBED, VERY SWEET ORANGE and SUPER LUCKY were sent for sampling.

SIMPLY BRILLIANT was bumped on jumping by HAPPY DRAGON which was taken in by TIME TO CELEBRATE. From wide barriers, GREEN LUCK and HARMONY HERO were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, HAPPY DRAGON was awkwardly placed behind FAST MOST FURIOUS. Approaching the 1300 Metres, TIME TO CELEBRATE and GREEN LUCK raced tight as TIME TO CELEBRATE attempted to shift in to obtain cover. Then after the 1300 Metres, TIME TO CELEBRATE shifted in and bumped GREEN LUCK. TIME TO CELEBRATE then shifted out to relieve the tightening to GREEN LUCK and consequently was left racing three wide. TIME TO CELEBRATE improved its position after the 1200 Metres, however, after the 800 Metres was left racing without cover. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, HARMONY VICTORY raced tight inside HEZTHEWONFORUS which shifted in marginally. Passing the 300 Metres, HARMONY VICTORY was very awkwardly placed close to the heels of INSAYSHABLE when held up for a run behind that horse. SIMPLY BRILLIANT, which was following HARMONY VICTORY, was directed out away from the heels of that horse near the 250 Metres after also being held up for clear running. HARMONY VICTORY was then unable to obtain clear running until near the 200 Metres. SIMPLY BRILLIANT was held up for clear running from passing the 150 Metres and consequently was not able to be tested until the concluding stages. Near the 50 Metres, ENCOURAGING was steadied when tightened for room between FAST MOST FURIOUS and TIME TO CELEBRATE which shifted out. When questioned, Z Purton stated that he was instructed to obtain a trailing positon if possible on ENCOURAGING as the horse was successful over the course and distance last season when ridden in this manner. He said if he was not able to obtain cover, he should then allow his mount to improve into the lead, however, the overriding instruction was for the horse to be positioned behind the leaders if possible. He said in the early stages he was able to obtain a position one horse off the rail behind HEZTHEWONFORUS which raced outside the lead. A veterinary inspection of ENCOURAGING, GOOD STANDING and GREEN LUCK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FAST MOST FURIOUS, HARMONY VICTORY and HEZTHEWONFORUS were sent for sampling.

SEERITE DRAGON began awkwardly and then bumped the hindquarters of TRAVEL FIRST as a result of both horses shifting ground. This resulted in SEERITE DRAGON and TRAVEL FIRST becoming unbalanced. GAYSON got its head up on jumping when being steadied to obtain cover. CLEMENT LEGEND shifted in at the start and bumped ACCLAIMED LIGHT. After this, from wide barriers, both CLEMENT LEGEND and ACCLAIMED LIGHT were steadied to obtain cover. PARTY TOGETHER travelled wide and without cover until passing the 1300 Metres at which stage MORE THAN A HORSE was left racing wide and without cover. Approaching the 1000 Metres, TRAVEL FIRST momentarily raced in restricted room inside GOD OF DRAGON which lay in despite the efforts of its rider. Rounding the Home Turn, WINNING DELIGHT and TASHIDELEK raced tight. After initially being directed to the outside of PARTY TOGETHER, WINNING DELIGHT was awkwardly placed behind that horse approaching the 250 Metres and then improved into tight running between PARTY TOGETHER and GIANT TURTLE approaching the 200 Metres. Passing the 200 Metres, TRAVEL FIRST was crowded for room inside MAGNETISM which, when improving into tight running inside GIANT TURTLE, was tightened by that horse which was taken in by WINNING DELIGHT (M Chadwick) which shifted in. M Chadwick was advised that whilst there were a number of circumstances to this incident, nonetheless he was told to ensure that he makes every effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. Near the 100 Metres, GIANT TURTLE was shifted out away from MAGNETISM and was consequently checked away from the heels of PARTY TOGETHER. A veterinary inspection of CLEMENT LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. A veterinary inspection of ACCLAIMED LIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TASHIDELEK, WINNING DELIGHT and MORE THAN A HORSE were sent for sampling.

After travelling a short distance, HELENA BABY was crowded for room between FAT TURTLE which was racing tight inside HONG KONG BET which got its head on the side and lay in away from SPEEDY KING and WALDORF which was taken out by GENTLE BREEZE. From the outside barrier, TORNADO TWIST was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start to obtain cover. After initially being steadied in the early stages from a wide barrier, COUNTRY STAR was left racing wide and after the 800 Metres improved its position to be closer to the lead, however, was left racing wide and without cover from the 600 Metres. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, HONG KONG BET and COUNTRY STAR bumped. TORNADO TWIST was unable to obtain clear running over the final 50 Metres and consequently was not able to be tested. M F Poon (GUNNISON) was warned against the practice of hitting his mounts down the shoulder with the whip. He was told that as the Stewards had previously spoken to him about this matter, it may be that further disciplinary action would be taken if he offends again in the future. When questioned regarding the performance of AMAZING STAR, Z Purton stated that after riding the horse in a gallop on Monday, 17 February 2020, he was dislodged from AMAZING STAR which resulted in it doing more work than had been intended. He said he rode the horse in a subsequent piece of work on Saturday, 22 February 2020 and he was satisfied with the standard of this work. He said after being loaded into the barriers AMAZING STAR became fractious and lunged at the front gates, resulting in the gates opening and AMAZING STAR travelling a short distance before being able to be restrained. He said after being returned to the barriers, he consulted with the Veterinary Officer and he was satisfied for the horse to start. The Veterinary Officer informed the Stewards that in his opinion AMAZING STAR was suitable to race. He said after being reloaded into the barriers AMAZING STAR began only fairly, shifted out and bumped COUNTRY STAR. He said because of the manner in which AMAZING STAR began, he had to ride his mount along in the early stages to take up a forward position and it was not until near the 1000 Metres that he was able to clear runners to his inside and obtain the lead. He said after the 1000 Metres he commenced to steady the tempo on AMAZING STAR as he had done more work in the early stages than he had hoped. He said after steadying his mount, GUNNISON improved around AMAZING STAR near the 700 Metres and AMAZING STAR soon after came off the bridle. He said he then rode AMAZING STAR along shortly after entering the Straight, however, AMAZING STAR did not quicken as it had for him previously and then did not finish off the race. He added whilst AMAZING STAR was disappointing, he believed there were a number of circumstances both prior to and during the race which provided valid excuses for the horse’s failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of AMAZING STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of AMAZING STAR, favourite for tonight’s race and which had won its previous three starts, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, AMAZING STAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AMAZING STAR, WALDORF and FAT TURTLE were sent for sampling.

After being loaded into the barriers, THUNDER STOMP lunged at and made heavy contact with the front gates, resulting in its rider, Apprentice C Wong, being dislodged. As Apprentice Wong was dislodged, THUNDER STOMP got out through the back gates during which time the bridle became displaced, resulting in THUNDER STOMP becoming loose and galloping a considerable distance. Acting on veterinary advice that THUNDER STOMP was not suitable to race, that horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, THUNDER STOMP will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CIRCUIT GLORY shifted out at the start and bumped HELLO DADDY. FLYING QUEST shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of CINQUANTE CINQ. From wide barriers, GOOD OMEN and NOBLE STEED were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Approaching the 1000 Metres, KIRAM raced tight inside HELLO DADDY which shifted in in an attempt to obtain cover behind CIRCUIT GLORY. When KIRAM remained racing one horse off the rail, HELLO DADDY was consequently left racing wide and without cover for the majority of the race. Close to the finishing line, FLYING QUEST and NOBLE STEED raced tight. When questioned regarding his riding of MY ALLY rounding the Home Turn, Apprentice K H Chan stated that after being crossed by HIGH REV passing the 450 Metres, he was racing immediately to the outside of BEAUTY RUSH. He said he commenced to ride his mount along and as he did this MY ALLY shifted out which allowed DANCES WITH DRAGON to improve its position between MY ALLY and BEAUTY RUSH. Apprentice Chan was told to ensure that he rides competitively at all times so that his mounts are given the full opportunity to obtain their best position. A veterinary inspection of CIRCUIT GLORY and KIRAM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, both horses were unable to be scoped due to being fractious. A veterinary inspection of FLYING QUEST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DANCES WITH DRAGON and CINQUANTE CINQ were sent for sampling.

On arrival at the start, SUNNY BOY, which was fractious in the Parade Ring and bumped a rail, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. LOVING A BOOM shifted out at the start and made contact with INVINCIBLE MISSILE. SUNNY BOY began only fairly and then was ridden along in an attempt to obtain a forward position. On jumping, MOST BEAUTIFUL was steadied away from the heels of CUE THE MUSIC which shifted in after bumping with HIGHLY PROACTIVE. VICTORY POWER began very awkwardly, shifted in abruptly at the start and bumped SHINING ACE. After being very awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHINING ACE for some distance, VICTORY POWER was then steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. After travelling a short distance, SUNNY BOY was bumped by INVINCIBLE MISSILE which shifted out marginally. Also after travelling a short distance, LOVING A BOOM got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover behind LE TERROIR. SHINING ACE was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover from a wide barrier. When questioned, K Teetan (HIGHLY PROACTIVE) stated that after initially commencing to shift over satisfactorily to race outside CUE THE MUSIC near the 1000 Metres, HIGHLY PROACTIVE commenced to hang out making the turn after the 1000 Metres and it took some effort to shift HIGHLY PROACTIVE back in to race close to the outside of CUE THE MUSIC. He said in the Back Straight HIGHLY PROACTIVE raced more tractably, however, making the turn after the 600 Metres again commenced to hang out. He said HIGHLY PROACTIVE hung out worse after the 400 Metres and continued to hang out rounding the Home Turn, resulting in the horse making the Home Turn very awkwardly and shifting out a considerable number of horses. He said HIGHLY PROACTIVE commenced to hang in approaching the 250 Metres and he had to straighten the horse to prevent causing interference to runners to his inside. He said HIGHLY PROACTIVE then shifted out and made heavy contact with the hindquarters of LOVING A BOOM (T Piccone) which also shifted in at this stage. He said after this HIGHLY PROACTIVE gave ground quickly. As HIGHLY PROACTIVE hung out rounding the Home Turn, LOVING A BOOM was shifted out away from the heels of that horse, resulting in LE TERROIR, JADE THEATRE and SUNNY BOY all being hampered when taken wider. A veterinary inspection of HIGHLY PROACTIVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The racing manners of HIGHLY PROACTIVE were considered unacceptable. Having regard to the manner in which the horse hung out, the Stewards ruled that HIGHLY PROACTIVE must undergo a series of consecutive barrier trials around a bend prior to being permitted to race again. In respect of the incident approaching the 200 Metres, T Piccone was advised that whilst the racing manners of HIGHLY PROACTIVE had played a significant part in this incident, nonetheless he must do his utmost in similar circumstances to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT, INVINCIBLE MISSILE and SHINING ACE were sent for sampling.
