On pulling up, J Moreira was dislodged from SAKEWIN, 4th placegetter, after that horse shifted out. As Jockey Moreira was not able to weigh in after the race due to being transported to the Jockey Medical Room for examination, acting under the powers of Rule 112(5), the Stewards declared weighed-in on the numbers semaphored by the Judge as they were satisfied that there were no circumstances which suggested that less than the proper weight had been carried throughout the race. J Moreira was subsequently examined by the Chief Medical Officer who said that he was not suitable to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements. When questioned, Z Purton stated that, from the outside barrier, it was decided for PACKING TREADMILL to be ridden more quietly today than has previously been the case. He said as there were a considerable number of horses drawn more favourably than PACKING TREADMILL which had previously been ridden for speed in their races, it was felt that if PACKING TREADMILL were to be ridden positively, that horse would likely be left racing wide and without cover. He said therefore it was decided that being ridden conservatively, given the composition of today’s field, would provide PACKING TREADMILL with the best opportunity to finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of MAJESTIC KNIGHT immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, MAJESTIC KNIGHT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, K Teetan reported that at its most recent start when successful, DRAGON FORTUNE was able to obtain a good position in the early stages due to having drawn barrier 3. He said, in his opinion, this allowed DRAGON FORTUNE the opportunity to finish the race off strongly. He said in today’s race, from barrier 12, he was required to race further back in the field than hoped in order to obtain cover. He said whilst DRAGON FORTUNE was able to obtain a position behind COPARTNER AMBITION worse than midfield, DRAGON FORTUNE was still required to race three wide. He added that he placed DRAGON FORTUNE under pressure after the 600 Metres, however, the horse did not quicken as it did at its most recent start and did not finish the race off over the latter stages. He said that whilst DRAGON FORTUNE raced disappointingly today, he felt that the circumstances of the race had not been to the horse’s advantage. A veterinary inspection of DRAGON FORTUNE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of DRAGON FORTUNE, a last start winner, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DRAGON FORTUNE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the improved performance of WINNING DREAMER today as compared to its recent starts, Trainer F C Lor stated that from wide barriers WINNING DREAMER has been ridden from off the speed in its recent races to obtain cover and in the hope that the horse would be able to close the race off. He said however that he had been disappointed in the finishing efforts of WINNING DREAMER and in particular at its most recent start when the horse had not closed the race off. He said after WINNING DREAMER again drew wide today, he instructed for the horse to be ridden positively to see if it would race more competitively. He said he believed that riding the horse in a forward position was the reason for WINNING DREAMER’s improved performance today. A veterinary inspection of PACKING VICTORY immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. FANTASTIC TREASURE, WINNING DREAMER and REWARDING TOGETHER were sent for sampling.
