COMING PATCH was slow to begin. HAPPY LAND began awkwardly. COMMANDING MISSILE shifted out at the start and bumped WIDE BLUE YONDER. After this, from a wide barrier, WIDE BLUE YONDER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Also from a wide barrier, PERFETTO was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start. After travelling a short distance, RED TITAN shifted in and bumped MASTER OF FORTUNE and near the 1000 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 900 Metres, FOREVER FOLKS raced tight inside PERFETTO which shifted in away from the heels of MASTER OF FORTUNE which got its head on the side and lay in. Then after the 850 Metres, FOREVER FOLKS was steadied when racing in restricted room inside PERFETTO as that horse continued to race tight inside MASTER OF FORTUNE. Near the 450 Metres, ADEFILL became unbalanced when bumped by PERFECT PEACH which improved into tight running between ADEFILL and MAXIMIZE HEART. HORSESAIN BOLT was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and at the entrance to the Straight was shifted out across the heels of HAPPY LAND to obtain clear running, COMING PATCH had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. PERFETTO had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 300 Metres was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PERFECT PEACH. After this, PERFETTO continued to be held up for clear running until near the 200 Metres. WIDE BLUE YONDER had some difficulty obtaining clear running from passing the 300 Metres until approaching the 200 Metres. Passing the 250 Metres, COMING PATCH was steadied away from the heels of RED TITAN (R Moore) which shifted in under pressure. R Moore was reprimanded and told to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. After this, COMING PATCH (A Hamelin) shifted in, resulting in BLUSTITCH and ADEFILL being hampered approaching the 150 Metres. A Hamelin was reprimanded and told that whilst COMING PATCH had initially been taken in by RED TITAN, nonetheless he had an obligation after this to make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. Approaching the 50 Metres, PERFETTO and WIDE BLUE YONDER brushed. After the race, L Hewitson stated that he had to ride PERFECT PEACH along for a considerable distance in the early stages to obtain as forward a position as possible. He said after obtaining a midfield position, he had to niggle at his mount in the middle stages to maintain its position behind MAXIMIZE HEART. He added that when placed under pressure in the Straight PERFECT PEACH did not respond to his riding and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection of PERFECT PEACH immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. After the race, MASTER OF FORTUNE was noted to have bled from the left nostril. An endoscopic examination confirmed the horse to be a bleeder. A veterinary inspection of ADEFILL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. PERFECT PEACH, CIRCUIT MIGHTY and HORSESAIN BOLT were sent for sampling.

LORD THUNDER began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped READY TO WIN which in turn shifted out and hampered SPANGLE FORTUNE which lost ground when crowded for room inside TEMPEST EXPRESS. GOKO WIN was crowded for room on jumping between SINBA and MALDIVES, both of which shifted ground. SILVER HAMMER began only fairly and was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From the outside barrier, GLUCK RACER was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 900 Metres, SINBA was awkwardly placed outside the heels of WONDER KIT. After this, SINBA was left racing wide and without cover. After the 100 Metres, LORD THUNDER and WONDER KIT became unbalanced when racing tight between SINBA and READY TO WIN which, when being shifted out in an endeavour to obtain clear running, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DECISIVE TWELVE. In the Straight, READY TO WIN lay in under pressure. When questioned, H Bowman (LORD THUNDER) stated that he was asked to obtain a trailing position behind the leaders if possible from barrier 2. He said after standing very awkwardly in the barriers, LORD THUNDER did not begin well, however, was able to obtain a forward position in the early stages. He said approaching the 1000 Metres WONDER KIT was racing to the outside of LORD THUNDER with a number of runners to that horse’s outside and given that LORD THUNDER was second up today after a long break, he felt that it was in the best interests of the horse to obtain a trailing position behind WONDER KIT which was being urged along to clear LORD THUNDER. He added that although it was available for him to improve his position in an attempt to prevent WONDER KIT from crossing LORD THUNDER, he felt that he would have had to ride his mount along having regard to the fact that WONDER KIT was being urged forward, therefore he elected to obtain a trailing position which resulted in LORD THUNDER racing one position further back in the field than had been anticipated. He said he was disappointed with the manner in which LORD THUNDER failed to quicken in the early part of the Straight and the horse then did not finish the race off over the concluding stages. When questioned, J McDonald stated that he was instructed to ride VICTOR THE WINNER positively in the early stages and obtain a forward position. He said if no horse was intent on leading, then he should lead the race, however, if other horses were intent on obtaining the lead, then it was acceptable for him to take up a trailing position. He said VICTOR THE WINNER began well in today’s race and he immediately commenced to ride his mount along to ensure that it was able to obtain a forward position. He said he noted that DRAGON’S LUCK was being aggressively ridden from a wider barrier to take up a forward position and as the rider of that horse appeared to be intent on leading, he elected to allow DRAGON’S LUCK to cross VICTOR THE WINNER and obtain a trailing position behind that horse. He added that VICTOR THE WINNER travelled very well in the middle stages and he anticipated that the horse would again finish the race off strongly, however, when a run appeared to the inside of DRAGON’S LUCK on entering the Straight, VICTOR THE WINNER commenced to lay in and did not quicken as he thought it would. He said he placed VICTOR THE WINNER under heavy pressure after the 250 Metres, however, the horse did not respond to his riding and did not close the race off and raced "flat” today. Mr C S Shum, the trainer of VICTOR THE WINNER, confirmed the instructions given to Jockey McDonald and said that given the tempo of the race in the early stages, he was completely satisfied with Jockey McDonald’s decision to take up a trailing position. He said following the horse’s disappointing performance and having regard to Jockey McDonald’s report that VICTOR THE WINNER raced "flat” today, it is his intention to give the horse a freshen-up following today’s race. A veterinary inspection of VICTOR THE WINNER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SCIENCE PATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. VICTOR THE WINNER, DRAGON’S LUCK and DECISIVE TWELVE were sent for sampling.

BOTANIK, which bumped a rail on entering the track, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race. After the start was effected, MENDOCINO reared abruptly and did not leave its barrier stall. Accordingly, MENDOCINO took no part in the race. As the Stewards were satisfied that MENDOCINO’s actions at the start were all of its own doing and that the horse had been afforded a fair start, no further action was required. BUBBLE GIFT was slow to begin and raced wide and without cover from the 1100 Metres. BUTTERFIELD, which was leaning on the outside of its stall, began awkwardly. After travelling a short distance, BROOME was crowded for room between BUTTERFIELD and BOTANIK which shifted out. Near the 2200 Metres, STONE AGE raced tight inside WIN MARILYN. PANFIELD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BUTTERFIELD passing the 400 Metres when held up for clear running behind that horse. Rounding the Home Turn, BROOME raced tight between BUBBLE GIFT and BUTTERFIELD which shifted out. Then near the 250 Metres, BROOME, which was commencing to give ground, momentarily raced in restricted room between BUBBLE GIFT and BUTTERFIELD, both of which shifted ground. Passing the 350 Metres, GLORY VASE shifted out and bumped BUTTERFIELD. For the majority of the race, BROOME travelled wide and without cover. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on BUBBLE GIFT at the request of Trainer M Delzangles. STRONGER began awkwardly. From wide barriers, SKY FIELD and DUKE WAI were shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. Passing the 1000 Metres, COURIER WONDER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of STRONGER when being steadied to obtain cover behind that horse. In the early stages, LUCKY SWEYNESSE got its head on the side and lay in. Making the first turn near the 900 Metres, LUCKY SWEYNESSE raced tight inside STRONGER which, after initially being taken in by SIGHT SUCCESS (C Lemaire), was steadied away from the heels of that horse. C Lemaire was reprimanded and told to ensure that he provides proper clearance when shifting ground in similar circumstances. SUPER WEALTHY, which was following LUCKY SWEYNESSE (Z Purton), was awkwardly placed behind that horse in consequence. COURIER WONDER, which was following STRONGER, became unbalanced when racing close to the heels of that horse also in consequence. Z Purton stated that after this incident he was required to race on the rail behind LIM’S KOSCIUSZKO. He said the pace of the race in the middle stages was only fair and rounding the Home Turn he attempted to obtain a run either inside or outside of LIM’S KOSCIUSZKO. He said LUCKY SWEYNESSE was badly held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight inside STRONGER and as no clear running eventuated in front of LUCKY SWEYNESSE, he had to direct his mount out passing the 300 Metres in an endeavour to find clear running. He added that he was able to commence improving near the 250 Metres, however, was again badly held up for clear running after the 200 Metres behind MEIKEI YELL and inside SUPER WEALTHY. He said he continued to shift out in an endeavour to obtain clear running, however, he was not able to obtain clear room at any stage in the Home Straight and accordingly LUCKY SWEYNESSE was not able to be tested. Passing the 700 Metres, CORDYCEPS SIX was taken wider and without cover by WELLINGTON which shifted out. Close to the finishing line, NARAN HULEG was awkwardly placed between CORDYCEPS SIX and SUPER WEALTHY which was taken out onto LUCKY SWEYNESSE. Throughout the race, MEIKEI YELL travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of RESISTENCIA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Whilst in the saddling stalls, DEAR SIBLING had its right hind plate refitted. DEAR SIBLING was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Just prior to the start being effected, POWERFUL WINGS, which was being assisted by a starting gate handler, became fractious and reared, resulting in the horse losing ground. Before being allowed to race again, POWERFUL WINGS will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. S J TOURBILLON shifted out on jumping and inconvenienced SWAN BAY. After this, from a wide barrier, SWAN BAY was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Also from a wide barrier, INVINCIBLE MISSILE was steadied in the early stages to obtain a position closer to the rail. Shortly after the start, BLASTOISE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SWEET ENCOUNTER which shifted out. Near the 1400 Metres, S J TOURBILLON was left racing wide and without cover. SALIOS was withdrawn on 10.12.22 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). SCHNELL MEISTER was slow to begin. DANON SCORPION began very awkwardly and shifted in across the heels of BEAUTY JOY. EXCELLENT PROPOSAL was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, GOLDEN SIXTY and BEAUTY JOY (H Bowman) raced very tight. GOLDEN SIXTY then raced close to the heels of LAWS OF INDICES approaching the 900 Metres. H Bowman stated that whilst it was available for him to ride BEAUTY JOY along with a view to possibly shifting GOLDEN SIXTY across to race on the rail which would have provided BEAUTY JOY with the opportunity to race in a trailing position behind LAWS OF INDICES, he was reluctant to do so given BEAUTY JOY’s well-documented history of proving difficult to manage in its races. He said as BEAUTY JOY was left racing three wide and without cover with the race only being run at a fair tempo approaching the 900 Metres, he elected to allow his mount to continue forward of LAWS OF INDICES into the lead rather than remaining racing in a three wide position without cover. Approaching the 200 Metres, DANON SCORPION shifted in and inconvenienced SCHNELL MEISTER. A veterinary inspection of SCHNELL MEISTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIA SPANGLE and GOLDEN SIXTY were sent for sampling.

11/12/2022  Class 2  Shatin  Turf  A  1400m   Going: GOOD  (2.72)   Rating: 100-080

KING LAND and BEAUTY LIVE bumped at the start. ORIENTAL SMOKE shifted in on jumping and bumped SHINING GEM which in turn shifted in and bumped THE IRISHMAN which lost ground when crowded for room outside IMA SINGLE MAN. In this incident, IMA SINGLE MAN became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by THE IRISHMAN. EASON began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped BLAZE WARRIOR. After this, EASON and BLAZE WARRIOR were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. BLAZE WARRIOR was then left racing wide and without cover passing the 1000 Metres. Also from the outside barriers, THE GOLDEN SCENERY, VIVA CHALEUR and WINNING METHOD were all steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. When being steadied to obtain cover for some distance after the 1300 Metres, KING LAND proved very difficult to settle. Approaching the 1100 Metres, SHINING GEM was crowded for room between LUCKY WITH YOU and THE IRISHMAN which shifted out. Rounding the Home Turn, SHINING GEM shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of THE GOLDEN SCENERY. VIVA CHALEUR was held up for clear running from on straightening until near the 250 Metres and then approaching the 150 Metres shifted out away from the heels of KING LAND and bumped LUCKY WITH YOU which became unbalanced. LUCKY WITH YOU and EASON had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Near the 200 Metres, THE IRISHMAN was bumped on the hindquarters by SILVER EXPRESS which was taken in marginally by VIVA CHALEUR. After the 200 Metres, CIRCUIT STELLAR raced tight inside the heels of ORIENTAL SMOKE. When questioned, B Shinn stated that, in his opinion, THE IRISHMAN’s run in today’s race was better than it may appear. He said from barrier 5 he was unable to shift THE IRISHMAN to race outside runners in the middle stages which he felt was detrimental to the horse’s chances. He said he is of the opinion that THE IRISHMAN races best when outside runners, but due to the circumstances of the race he was not able to obtain that position. He added that approaching the 500 Metres he shifted THE IRISHMAN to the outside of BEAUTY LIVE with a view to improving between that horse and SILVER EXPRESS. He said as he did this BEAUTY LIVE shifted out and when SILVER EXPRESS maintained its position to the outside of THE IRISHMAN in the early part of the Straight, this resulted in THE IRISHMAN not being able to quicken. He said then over the concluding stages THE IRISHMAN stayed on satisfactorily in a race in which the circumstances were not to its advantage. A veterinary inspection of THE IRISHMAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned, K Teetan stated that he was instructed to find cover in the early stages on IMA SINGLE MAN. He said when racing in a three wide position outside KING LAND passing the 1200 Metres, he had hoped that either KING LAND or CIRCUIT STELLAR would improve their positions to allow IMA SINGLE MAN the opportunity to obtain a trailing position. He said when both CIRCUIT STELLAR and KING LAND maintained their positions and with ORIENTAL SMOKE racing to the outside of his mount, IMA SINGLE MAN commenced to travel keenly and therefore he allowed IMA SINGLE MAN to improve its position forward of KING LAND and then CIRCUIT STELLAR to race in the lead near the 1000 Metres. He added that in the middle stages IMA SINGLE MAN would not relax and travelled too keenly and because of this was then not able to finish the race off in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of IMA SINGLE MAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of EASON and KING LAND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. THE IRISHMAN, BLAZE WARRIOR and BEAUTY LIVE were sent for sampling.
