After arriving in the saddling stalls, COUNTRY MAGIC had its right hind plate replaced. ELITE FORTUNE was slow to begin. On jumping, BABY WAVE, FINN MACCOOL and SOHNA were taken back from wide barriers. RED RULER began awkwardly, then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. Approaching the 1000 Metres, MUTUAL FUN was bumped by INVINCIBLEKINDNESS which was hard ridden to maintain a position on its inside on the rail. Shortly after this, VIVA FIGHTER was crowded for room between RED RULER which was shifting in and MUTUAL FUN which shifted out after being bumped and at the same time was steadied away from the heels of MY TIME (C W Wong) which shifted in when not properly clear. BABY WAVE was checked in consequence whilst FINN MACCOOL and SOHNA were hampered. C W Wong was told to exercise greater care. After the 900 Metres, FINN MACCOOL, which was proving difficult to settle, shifted in, bumped BABY WAVE and then was checked away from the heels of MUTUAL FUN. For a considerable distance approaching and passing the 300 Metres, FINN MACCOOL had difficulty obtaining clear running. In the Straight, INVINCIBLEKINDNESS hung out. Throughout the race, OUR PEGASUS travelled wide and without cover. MUTUAL FUN, WINE WIN and COUNTRY MAGIC were sent for sampling.
