TRULLI was withdrawn on 10.3.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BLEDISLOE. Before being allowed to race again, TRULLI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As the start was effected, ELITE FORTUNE sat back and as a consequence was slow to begin. BLEDISLOE was slow to begin. TRAVEL GUIDE began awkwardly, lost ground and shortly after the start got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MY HOME TOWN which shifted in. From the outside barrier, in the early stages, TIGER RIDGE was taken back. BULLISH GOLD made the turn at the 1000 Metres awkwardly. Near the 800 Metres, EVER BEAUTY, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when awkwardly placed inside BULLISH GOLD which was carried in and steadied away from the heels of MY HOME TOWN which shifted in when barely clear. After this incident, BULLISH GOLD was left racing wide and without cover. After the 600 Metres, AMO, which had its head on the side and was inclined to shift out, was steadied when awkwardly placed inside EVER BEAUTY. After the 200 Metres, BLEDISLOE, which had been for a considerable distance endeavouring to improve into a narrow run on the inside of THE WORLD OF LOVE, became unbalanced after being bumped by that horse. Also after the 200 Metres, EVER BEAUTY was checked when disappointed for running between THE WORLD OF LOVE and MY HOME TOWN. After this, EVER BEAUTY was not able to obtain clear running and as a consequence was not tested. TIGER RIDGE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TIGER RIDGE after the race did not show any significant findings. BULLISH GOLD, FINGERS CROSSED and SUPER GENERAL were sent for sampling.
