SOHNA got its head up on jumping and was then taken back. On jumping, MY WAY blundered. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, MY WAY was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of RELY ON ME. After the 800 Metres, OUR LUCKY BABY proved difficult to settle and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of LUCKY BOY. As the tempo steadied near the 700 Metres, HEIMORI was steadied away from the heels of OUR LUCKY BABY. In the middle stages, MIGHTY WINNER proved very difficult to settle and in the early part of the Straight was held up and unable to obtain clear running. In the early part of the Straight, RELY ON ME and AMAZING VENTURE had difficulty obtaining clear running. Throughout the race, LUCKY TYCOON travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the improved performance of RELY ON ME, Trainer P F Yiu explained at the horse's most recent start which was over 1650 Metres at Happy Valley, it went forward in the early stages, however, when not able to obtain a position with cover was then steadied approaching the winning post on the first occasion to obtain cover. He said RELY ON ME in the past had performed poorly when being obliged to race in a similar position. He said subsequent to that race RELY ON ME performed well in a barrier trial and he decided to engage a 10 lb claiming apprentice to reduce the weight for today's race. He said today RELY ON ME was able to go forward in the early stages and cross to a position on the rail and eventually followed the leader. He said in his opinion these matters accounted for the improved performance of RELY ON ME. LUCKY BOY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY BOY after the race did not show any significant findings. HEIMORI, AMAZING VENTURE and RELY ON ME were sent for sampling.
