ACTUARIAL TALENT was slow to begin and then despite being ridden along failed to muster speed. GOOD TIME CHARLIE was slow to begin. On jumping, GENERAL POWER was crowded for room between NEWSWIRE TOO and TOP SPEED, both of which shifted ground. As a result of this, TOP SPEED, GENERAL POWER and NEWSWIRE TOO became unbalanced. In the early stages, MUTUAL GAIN from a wide barrier was taken back. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, MOUNT SURPLUS was steadied away from the heels of FAST WINNER. After this, MOUNT SURPLUS travelled wide and without cover for the remainder of the race. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, GENERAL POWER was steadied when held up and unable to obtain clear running between FAST WINNER and TELECOM EMPEROR. Throughout the race, FAST WINNER travelled wide and without cover. J Lloyd (ACTUARIAL TALENT) was reminded of his responsibility to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels right to the winning post where circumstances permit. TELECOM EMPEROR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TELECOM EMPEROR after the race did not show any significant findings. FAST WINNER, SPLENDID SAILS and BAYVIEW GREYSLEW were sent for sampling.
