On jumping, VIGOR DELIGHT was crowded for room between REWARDING STAR and REALLY HAPPY. Also on jumping, BOUNCER was taken back. In the early stages, REWARDING STAR was taken back. Also in the early stages, LOCAL POWER, which was ridden along to go forward, travelled wide and without cover. Approaching the 500 Metres, BOUNCER was hampered and carried wider by REAL SPECIAL (D Whyte) which shifted to the outside of YOUNG HERO to commence improving its position. D Whyte was severely reprimanded and told to exercise care. Prior to straightening, BILLION was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of VIGOR DELIGHT and behind LOCAL POWER which commenced to give ground. At the 250 Metres, BILLION was momentarily steadied away from the heels of VIGOR DELIGHT. REALLY HAPPY and LOCAL POWER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, REALLY HAPPY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings other than the horse had lost its right front plate. A veterinary inspection of LOCAL POWER after the race did not show any significant findings. REAL SPECIAL and UNWRITTEN RULE were sent for sampling. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SAFETY FIRST had lost its left hind plate.
