Steward Report Predict Pace Map
CHINESE COURSER (M Du Plessis) was slow to begin. After the race, M Du Plessis reported his saddle shifted back on jumping. On jumping, AIPODER IMAGE lifted its front feet off the ground and was slow to begin. In the middle stages, SHINING DRAGON hung out. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, CHINESE COURSER and MULTI-WIN SPIRIT bumped. After the 800 Metres, CHINESE COURSER, which was proving difficult to settle, was checked away from the heels of TOUCH MORE. DAYLIGHT EXPRESS, which was following, was checked in consequence. For a considerable distance approaching the 600 Metres, MULTI-WIN SPIRIT raced awkwardly close to the heels of ACTIVE VALOUR, then at the 600 Metres was checked to avoid the heels of ACTIVE VALOUR. CHINESE COURSER and DAYLIGHT EXPRESS, which were following, were hampered in consequence. For a considerable distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, AIPODER IMAGE was steadied when held up and unable to improve. After the 200 Metres, REAL PLEASURE, which was giving ground, was crowded for room inside ACTIVE VALOUR which was carried in by GENERAL POWER (Apprentice M Chadwick) which got its head on the side and shifted in away from ACCELERATOR. As Apprentice Chadwick endeavoured to straighten GENERAL POWER, he dropped his right rein. Passing the 200 Metres, WINNING AHEAD had difficulty obtaining clear running, then just prior to the winning post was steadied when awkwardly placed between OWNERS LAD and ACTIVE VALOUR. As a consequence, WINNING AHEAD was not ridden out fully to the end of the race. In the Straight, ACCELERATOR hung in and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, PLESAURE PLEASURE travelled wide and without cover. Mr A Schutz, the trainer of OWNERS LAD, said after the horse endured a tough run at its most recent start, it was required to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. He said OWNERS LAD had subsequently trialed on two occasions, been ridden in a forward position and had performed satisfactorily. He said today from barrier 14 he instructed J Winks to be more aggressive on the horse and cross to race in a forward position. He said when OWNERS LAD was able to obtain the lead, it travelled at a tempo to suit itself and subsequently performed better than it had in its two prior starts for his stable. When questioned regarding the improved performance of ACCELERATOR, Trainer S Woods said because he had been disappointed with the horse's recent form he had decided to vary the gear which the horse had carried in its recent races. He said he removed the visor, crossed nose band, rubber bit and tongue tie from ACCELERATOR and added a norton bit which the horse raced in for the first time today. He said ACCELERATOR had been more settled in its work leading into today's race. He said while ACCELERATOR was given some chance in the race by the stable, he did have some reservations because the horse had shown itself to be unreliable in the past. He said the manner in which ACCELERATOR raced today particularly in the Straight again showed to him that the horse could not be relied upon. REAL PLEASURE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, REAL PLEASURE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said he noted blood present at its right nostril and an endoscopic examination confirmed the horse to be a bleeder. GENERAL POWER, ACCELERATOR and OWNERS LAD were sent for sampling.
