1 TCHAIKOVSKY M Chadwick D J Hall 5 133 100 --

Steward Report Predict Pace Map
As Apprentice M Chadwick, the declared rider of TCHAIKOVSKY, was unable to fulfil his riding engagement in this race following him being dislodged from his mount in Race 7, the Stewards considered an application from Trainer D J Hall that he be permitted to substitute D Beadman as the rider of TCHAIKOVSKY or alternatively he be given permission to have the horse withdrawn from the race. Mr Hall explained that no other available rider apart from D Beadman was acceptable to him as the trainer of the horse and he added he was unable to contact the owner of TCHAIKOVSKY. The Stewards decided not to accede to Mr Hall's request that D Beadman be substituted as the rider of TCHAIKOVSKY, and after considering the matter they believed permission ought to be given for TCHAIKOVSKY to be withdrawn from the race. TCHAIKOVSKY was therefore withdrawn by order of the Stewards. CONFUCIUS CLASSIC and HIGH POINT were slow to begin. In the early stages, STREET CAT drifted back to a position near the rear. In the early and middle stages, MI REILLY over-raced. Near the 600 Metres, NOBLE MAN was checked away from the heels of KING ENCOSTA which was carried in by DOUBLE LUCK. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, CANNONISE was steadied away from the heels of DIAMOND BRILLIANCE (C K Tong) which shifted in when not clear. C K Tong was reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care. Also making the turn at the 600 Metres, BEAR MACHO became unbalanced and shifted wider on the track after being bumped and hampered by MY HOME TOWN (Z Purton) which shifted out away from the heels of CANNONISE when that horse steadied as a result of interference in front of him. Z Purton was severely reprimanded and told in the opinion of the Stewards he should have made a greater effort to steady his mount and maintain his position on the rail rather than shifting out. He was also told that he would be expected to show more consideration for his fellow riders. Near the 200 Metres, KING ENCOSTA was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between BEAR MACHO and NOBLE MAN (W M Lai) which shifted out when not properly clear. W M Lai will be told to ensure he is clear of other runners before shifting ground. Over about the final 150 Metres, HIGH POINT had difficulty obtaining clear running inside CANNONISE and because of this was not fully tested. Near the 100 Metres, NOBLE MAN was steadied away from the heels of DOUBLE LUCK. KING ENCOSTA was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. BEAR MACHO and was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KING ENCOSTA and BEAR MACHO after the race did not show any significant findings. MI REILLY, MY HOME TOWN and NOBLE MAN were sent for sampling. 21 May 2009 Happy Valley Racemeeting – Race 8 (630) The Stewards today afforded B Prebble an opportunity of explaining the poor performance of BEAR MACHO. He said BEAR MACHO travelled only fairly throughout the run and after being interfered with near the 600 Metres became unbalanced in its action and changed legs. He said shortly after this he was able to have BEAR MACHO change back to its correct lead leg, however, the horse then failed to finish the race off.
