COSMO SUCCESSOR was withdrawn on 30.5.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left hock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter EXCELLENT ELITE (J Winks). Before being allowed to race again, COSMO SUCCESSOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WIKI WIKI began awkwardly, then lost further ground when bumped by SKY WALKER. Z Purton (SKY WALKER) reported that on jumping his saddle shifted back. In the early stages, KING WINS was taken back. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, MAGIC TURBO was steadied away from the heels of GOLDEN BOY which after being ridden along became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of LUCKY BOY. After the 700 Metres, KING WINS was steadied away from the heels of EXCELLENT ELITE. At the 100 Metres, WADASURPRISE was steadied away from the heels of SKY WALKER. Near the 100 Metres, KEEN TAKER was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY BOY (B Prebble) which got its head on the side and shifted out. B Prebble stopped riding and straightened his mount. He was reprimanded and told he would be expected to make a greater effort than he did on this occasion to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. Throughout the race, ICE FIRE travelled wide and without cover. LUCKY BOY and MAGIC TURBO were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SKY WALKER had lost its right front plate.
