On jumping, PLOT RATIO blundered. Also on jumping, WIND KNIGHT shifted out and bumped with MASTER RIO which shifted in after being bumped by ENCOSTA DON. As a consequence, WIND KNIGHT became unbalanced and blundered. When the gates opened, BRAVE SPIRIT lifted its front feet off the ground and was slow into stride. FAST GO was slow into stride, then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. After the 900 Metres, PLOT RATIO was checked to avoid the heels of MASTER RIO which was steadied away from the heels of TURF WINNER which itself was steadied to avoid the heels of MY MEMORY (Apprentice K C Leung) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice Leung was advised to exercise greater care. At the 250 Metres, BRAVE SPIRIT, which was commencing to close the race off, was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of PLOT RATIO. After the 200 Metres, BRAVE SPIRIT was inclined to hang out. The performance of HAPPY TOUCH, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY TOUCH will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, W C Marwing (DUEL EXPRESS) reported the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. WIND KNIGHT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WIND KNIGHT after the race did not show any significant findings. TURF WINNER and MY MEMORY were sent for sampling. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported FAST GO was noted to be making an abnormal breathing noise. He said FAST GO had previously been reported to be a “roarer”.
