On jumping, NATURAL NINE was taken back from the wide barrier. SKYVIEW BAR was slow into stride, then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, JOYFUL WINNER, which was racing wide on the track, was taken back to a position with cover. After entering the Back Straight, WATCH WHAT HAPPENS, which was travelling keenly, proved difficult to settle. Near the 100 Metres, SKYVIEW BAR, which had been hanging in while giving ground, propped and shifted out abruptly away from a mark on the track, causing Apprentice M L Yeung, its rider, to be dislodged. Throughout the race, GREAT ACHIEVEMENT travelled wide and without cover. SKYVIEW BAR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SKYVIEW BAR after the race did not show any significant findings. WILLING STORM, NATURAL NINE and SILVER SUN were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that WATCH WHAT HAPPENS had lost its left front plate.
