AMO was withdrawn on 9.6.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (stiff action) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SUGAR ON TOP (W M Lai). FLY HIGH was slow to begin and then lost further ground when bumped by MAGIC KING which on jumping shifted in abruptly. SPICY FRUITY, TRANSCENDENCE and SUGAR ON TOP were slow into stride. On jumping, CHINA HERO knuckled, then in the early stages while hanging in failed to muster speed despite being ridden along. After this, CHINA HERO continued to hang in for the major part of the race. For a considerable distance after the 200 Metres, SUGAR ON TOP, which was closing the race off, was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLY HIGH. Because of this, SUGAR ON TOP was not fully tested. Throughout the race, MEGABUCKS travelled wide and without cover. JUST RIGHT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, JUST RIGHT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, JUST RIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PAR EXCELLENCE and TOUT VA BIEN were sent for sampling. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that MAGIC KING had lost its left front plate.
