Steward Report Predict Pace Map
FINGERS CROSSED was withdrawn on 22.6.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE. Before being allowed to race again, FINGERS CROSSED will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HOLD HANDS began awkwardly. Making the Home Turn, after travelling wide and without cover throughout the race, KINDACROSS hung out. At the 250 Metres, KINDACROSS was hampered by GILDED FLIGHT which shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of ENCORE WIN which when giving ground shifted wider. Near the 100 Metres, J Lloyd (CIRCUIT HERO) dropped his whip. When questioned, Y T Cheng (GILDED FLIGHT) said because there were a number of go forward horses in the race, it was anticipated the tempo would be fast. He said because of this he was asked to have GILDED FLIGHT begin well, then endeavour to obtain a position with cover just behind the lead. He said he rode GILDED FLIGHT along in the early stages to ensure the horse obtained the forward position, then approaching the turn at the 1000 Metres he steadied GILDED FLIGHT in the hope horses travelling to his inside would go forward and he would then be able to obtain a position with cover behind them. He said GILDED FLIGHT travelled a little keenly in the early part of the Back Straight, however, near the 700 Metres he was able to obtain a position with cover as instructed. He said when GILDED FLIGHT obtained cover, the horse immediately came off the bridle and did not appear to appreciate racing behind horses. He said in the Straight GILDED FLIGHT disappointed him in the manner in which it closed the race off. GILDED FLIGHT and KINDACROSS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GILDED FLIGHT and KINDACROSS after the race did not show any significant findings. OUR LUCKY BABY and CIRCUIT HERO were sent for sampling.
