After arriving at the Start, the tongue tie fitted to DARREN was replaced. TIGER RIDGE, which was standing badly, began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 900 Metres, EXTRA SPECIAL was steadied away from the heels of SMART CODE (M W Leung) which shifted in when not properly clear. M W Leung was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Near the 800 Metres, KING OF HEARTS was steadied away from the heels of COSMO SUCCESSOR. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, EXTRA SPECIAL was steadied away from the heels of MAGIC TEMPLE which was steadied away from the heels of TATTENHALL DELIGHT (B Doyle) which shifted in when not properly clear. B Doyle was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Approaching the 600 Metres, TATTENHALL DELIGHT became unbalanced when being checked away from the heels of COSMO SUCCESSOR which lost ground when awkwardly placed between DARREN and KING OF HEARTS. At the 500 Metres, COSMO SUCCESSOR was steadied when awkwardly placed inside KING OF HEARTS. At the 400 Metres, COSMO SUCCESSOR, which was shifting out in an endeavour to obtain clear running, became unbalanced after bumping with ALMIGHTY. In this incident, ALMIGHTY also became unbalanced. For some distance after this, COSMO SUCCESSOR continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running. Shortly after straightening, DARREN was shifted to the inside of LUCKY BOY to obtain clear running. For some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, COSMO SUCCESSOR raced tight inside ALMIGHTY which was laying in, then near the 100 Metres was bumped by MAGIC TEMPLE which shifted out to obtain clear running. Close to the line, DARREN, which was inclined to lay in, was awkwardly placed outside the heels of COOL CAT which was giving ground. Because of this, DARREN was not ridden out fully to the end of the race. For the major part of the Home Straight, FULL BLESSINGS had difficulty obtaining clear running and because of this was not properly tested. Throughout the race, ALMIGHTY travelled wide and without cover. LUCKY BOY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY BOY after the race did not show any significant findings. DARREN, KING OF HEARTS and COOL CAT were sent for sampling.
