While in the saddling stalls, TOUCH LUCKY had its right front plate adjusted. TOUCH LUCKY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, M Du Plessis (LIVERBIRD) expressed concern over the horse’s action during the preliminary. LIVERBIRD was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said after consulting with the jockey the horse was suitable to race. ALGARVE began awkwardly. OASIS DAVIS was slow into stride. Shortly after the start, MAGIC J became badly unbalanced, causing S K Sit, its rider, to be almost dislodged after being bumped by GOLDEN BOY which was carried out by FUJIAN PRINCE which on jumping was carried wider by BRAVE SPIRIT. Approaching the 1500 Metres, FUJIAN PRINCE was checked when crowded for room inside GOLDEN BOY which had been hanging in and at this time shifted in away from TOUCH LUCKY. No action was taken. Passing the 300 Metres, BRAVE SPIRIT, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, shifted out and bumped with O’REILLY MAGIC. Near the 200 Metres, DECAGONAL was steadied when awkwardly placed between ALGARVE which shifted in and O’REILLY MAGIC which was bumped and carried wider by BRAVE SPIRIT. In the run to the line, BRAVE SPIRIT hung out. Y T Cheng (LUCKY MONEY) reported at no stage of the race did his mount stride out, commenced to give ground prior to straightening and finished tailed out. LUCKY MONEY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY MONEY after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of LUCKY MONEY was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY MONEY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ALGARVE and BRAVE SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
