In the Parade Ring, the tongue tie on HIGH NOTE was refitted. On arriving at the barriers, Y T Cheng expressed concern regarding the action of HEALTHY BLUEBERRY. The Veterinary Officer reported that in his opinion HEALTHY BLUEBERRY was suitable to race. Shortly after the start, MARIACHI threw its head in the air on a number of occasions and then near the 1300 Metres was steadied away from the heels of STAR OF FAME. CONQUEROR hung out from passing the 800 Metres until after entering the Home Straight. For some distance passing the 600 Metres, MEGA BULLET raced in restricted room between DASHING THUNDER and STAR OF FAME which shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ROMANCING TAMAR. Passing the 400 Metres, FORTUNE SPIRIT was steadied when disappointed for running between SUPER BOBO and STAR OF FAME which shifted to the inside of HEALTHY BLUEBERRY after being held up for running behind that horse. When questioned regarding his ride on CONQUEROR, S K Sit stated that he was instructed to have the horse race where it was comfortable and it was felt this would be in about a midfield position. He said although CONQUEROR had been ridden in a forward position in the past, he felt considerable use would have had to be made of the horse today to race in a more forward position. FUN RIDER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FUN RIDER after the race did not show any significant findings. FLY ME TO THE MOON, ALL TIME HIGH and HEALTHY BLUEBERRY were sent for sampling.
