ELITE FORTUNE was slow to begin. LUCKY TYCOON began awkwardly. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, LUCKY TYCOON was steadied when briefly crowded for room inside TREMENDOUS PLUS. S K Sit (SUDDEN SPLENDOR) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ELECTRONIC MASTER, resulting in that horse being unnecessarily crowded for room, being checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. S K Sit was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 26 October 2009 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Saturday 17 October 2009. B Prebble (ELECTRONIC MASTER) reported that after this incident, his mount did not travel and was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to respond to his riding in the Straight. He did say that ELECTRONIC MASTER has proven to be a horse that when in similar circumstances has failed to finish its races off. Throughout the race, AMAZING FORTUNE travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ELITE FORTUNE, B Doyle stated that the horse was quite stirred up prior to tonight’s race and was extremely fractious in the barriers. He said that after being slow to begin, which is not unusual for the horse, ELITE FORTUNE travelled keenly throughout the race. He said he followed the eventual winner, HOLIDAY SUN, throughout, however, ELITE FORTUNE was not able to sprint with that horse rounding the Home Turn and then in the Straight did not respond to his riding as it has done in the past. He said, in all the circumstances, ELITE FORTUNE was disappointing tonight. A veterinary inspection of ELITE FORTUNE and ELECTRONIC MASTER after the race did not show any significant findings. HOLIDAY SUN and O’REILLY MAGIC were sent for sampling.
