Steward Report Predict Pace Map
CRUSH ON YOU was slow to begin. For some distance shortly after the start, KIMBERLEY and GENERAL POWER raced tight inside MONTY (O Doleuze). O Doleuze was severely reprimanded for having horses to his inside unnecessary tight and advised to ensure he provides sufficient racing room to his fellow riders in future. Near the 1200 Metres, MONTY got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of WINNING AHEAD. The performance of DON FELIPE, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. As this is the third occasion on which DON FELIPE’s performance had been considered unacceptable, the Stewards ruled that the horse must perform satisfactorily in a series of official barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again. When questioned regarding the improved performance of the second placegetter, TELECOM LUCKY STAR as compared to its first up run at Sha Tin on 13 September 2009, Trainer C H Yip said that at its first up run this season, he had instructed the rider to obtain a forward position if possible. He said however that, as instanced in the Stewards’ report, TELECOM LUCKY STAR began very awkwardly which resulted in its rider becoming unbalanced which required it to be ridden at the rear of the field. He said today he again instructed S K Sit, the rider of TELECOM LUCKY STAR, to obtain a forward position if possible and he felt that the horse would have a reasonable chance of obtaining a forward position as it was racing over 1400 Metres for the first time. He said, in his opinion, TELECOM LUCKY STAR had benefited from the step up in distance and the fact that the horse was able to be ridden more forward than it has in its previous race starts. When questioned, W Pike (ACTUARIAL TALENT) stated that he had been instructed to obtain a position with cover on the horse, preferably in 4th or 5th position. He said from gate number 14, he rode along in the early stages to take up a forward position, however, making the first turn ACTUARIAL TALENT proved difficult to settle and was inclined to lay out. He said for this reason and due to MONTY being positioned on his inside, he was not able to shift in behind BERNINI to obtain cover and was therefore left racing wide and without cover throughout. W Pike was advised, wherever possible, to ensure that his mounts do not travel in a wide position. A veterinary inspection of ACTUARIAL TALENT after the race revealed that the horse was lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, ACTUARIAL TALENT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of MONTY after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. KIMBERLEY, LUCKY DRAGON and TELECOM LUCKY STAR were sent for sampling.
