WING MASTER began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. Shortly after the start, WING MASTER was crowded for room between EAST RIDER and FEEL THE FUN. TELECOM LUCKY STAR was slow to begin and then was ridden along to obtain a forward position. TRANSCENDENCE was crowded for room at the start between KING’S CHOICE and NOBLE ZOOM which shifted in. When being taken across behind runners near the 1300 Metres, CLOVIS was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SO PRETTY SO SMART. Passing the 1200 Metres, WING MASTER and FEEL THE FUN raced in restricted room inside KING’S CHOICE which shifted in slightly. In the early stages, TRANSCENDENCE, which raced wide and without cover throughout, proved difficult to settle. S K Sit (TELECOM LUCKY STAR) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 900 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of FEEL THE FUN, causing that horse to be checked. S K Sit was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 14 December 2009 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 2 December 2009. In this incident, WING MASTER, which was racing to the inside of FEEL THE FUN, became unbalanced when crowded for room. After this, FEEL THE FUN was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 500 Metres, CLOVIS was checked away from the heels of BERNINI which became unbalanced after being bumped by EAST RIDER which shifted out to improve its position. When CLOVIS was checked, it shifted out, resulting in KING OF TURF and TRANSCENDENCE being inconvenienced. CLOVIS was held up for clear running until near the 300 Metres. From the 300 Metres until passing the 200 Metres, EAST RIDER was held up for clear running. In the Straight, WING MASTER got its head on the side, hung in and proved difficult to ride. Apprentice T H So (KING’S CHOICE) stated that the horse was inclined to hang out throughout the race and near the 400 Metres shifted away from the fence despite his attempts to have the horse maintain its position on the rail. A veterinary inspection of TRANSCENDENCE and TELECOM LUCKY STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. SO PRETTY SO SMART and GO STITCH were sent for sampling.
