A veterinary inspection of LUCKY EMPEROR, which kicked a rail on the way to the Parade Ring, found the horse suitable to race. GLOBAL WIN was slow to begin. Rounding the first turn, THUNDER DANCING got its head on the side and shifted out. Near the 100 Metres, WINNER SMART (K L Chui) was steadied away from the heels of GLOBAL WIN which shifted in. K L Chui was advised to ensure he rides his mounts out right to the end of the race wherever possible. Inside the final 100 Metres, MAGIC TEMPLE raced tight between GRAND STORE and GLOBAL WIN which shifted in slightly and then close to the winning post was checked when crowded for room between GRAND STORE and GLOBAL WIN, both of which shifted some ground. Near the 50 Metres, HAR HAR CHARMS, which was weakening, was steadied when crowded for room between INDUSTRIAL MARVEL which shifted out slightly and KING OF HEARTS which shifted to the inside of GRAND STORE in an attempt to obtain clear running. In the Straight, KING OF HEARTS was unable to obtain clear running until over the concluding stages and as a consequence was not properly tested. Over the final 150 Metres, CENTURY SUPER STAR was unable to obtain clear running and because of this was not properly tested. A veterinary inspection of WINNER SMART after the race did not show any significant findings. GRAND STORE and KING OF HEARTS were sent for sampling.
