SINGLE MALT was withdrawn on 2.2.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SOLAR UP (D Whyte). Before being allowed to race again, SINGLE MALT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AMBITIOUS DRAGON was slow to begin and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. Shortly after the start, MAGIC TURBO and WIN-A-LOT raced tight between SOLAR UP and RARE TREASURE which on jumping shifted out. At the 400 Metres, SOLAR UP got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MORNING GREEN. Passing the 200 Metres, MAGIC TURBO was steadied away from the heels of MORNING GREEN which was weakening. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MORNING GREEN, B Prebble stated that the horse travelled satisfactorily until rounding the Home Turn, however, at this time shortened stride appreciably and in the Straight weakened badly. Mr D J Hall, the trainer of MORNING GREEN, stated that he was very disappointed with the performance of MORNING GREEN tonight. He said the horse had pleased him since its last run. He stated that he added blinkers to the horse’s gear tonight as, in his opinion, the horse did not appear to appreciate racing amongst horses at its most recent start. A veterinary inspection of MORNING GREEN after the race did not show any significant findings. Mr Hall was advised that the performance of MORNING GREEN was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, MORNING GREEN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of BERNINI after the race did not show any significant findings. MORNING GREEN, JUST CHILL and PAR EXCELLENCE were sent for sampling.
