For some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, SUNNY KING got its head up and proved difficult to settle when being steadied away from the heels of REGENCY DRAGON. Near the 50 Metres, M Chadwick (REGENCY DRAGON) dropped his whip. When questioned, S Dye said that after initially being held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight, he rode YOUNG ELITE along with the whip to have it improve. He said over the final 150 Metres YOUNG ELITE hung in and although he was able to ride the horse out hands and heels, he elected not to continue to ride it out with the whip. HAPPY ZERO and FELLOWSHIP were sent for sampling.
