MERIDIAN PRIDE was slow to begin and then was crowded for room between GENERAL SMILE and WIN PRACTITIONER which got its head on the side and shifted in. From a wide barrier, THE ONLY KID was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after the start, LHOJONG was steadied away from the heels of SILVER BLAZE which shifted out. Near the 1300 Metres, AMPLE GAINS was steadied away from the heels of GENERAL SMILE, shifted out and bumped WIN PRACTITIONER which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LHOJONG. Near the 350 Metres, MERIDIAN PRIDE was steadied when disappointed for running between MINGS’ HERO and SILVER BLAZE which shifted to the outside of GLORY OF INDIA to improve. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, SILVER BLAZE shifted out, resulting in MINGS’ HERO being taken wider. Throughout the race, POWER DRIFTER travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of BULLISH WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of GENERAL SMILE after the race revealed that the horse had bled from both nostrils. GENERAL SMILE, MING HOI TREASURE and GLORY OF INDIA were sent for sampling.
