As the start was effected, FORTUNE WINNER lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. GIVE WELL shifted out at the start and bumped EASY AHEAD. Near the 1200 Metres, HAPPY AMBASSADOR hung in towards the heels of AMAZING JOURNEY. This resulted in EASTERN EMPIRE being crowded for room and FORTUNE WINNER, which was following that horse, being checked away from the heels of EASTERN EMPIRE as a consequence. WIN PRACTITIONER, which was following FORTUNE WINNER, was also steadied out and away from the heels of that horse. SILVER BLAZE travelled wide and without cover until near the 700 Metres. When questioned, Y T Cheng stated that IMPLIED VOLATILITY was caught wide in the early stages and was inclined to lay out passing the 1400 Metres. He said due to being trapped wide, he elected to allow IMPLIED VOLATILITY to stride forward passing the 1200 Metres and was able to obtain a position outside EASY AHEAD near the 800 Metres. He said after this IMPLIED VOLATILITY travelled only fairly and finished off the race one-paced. Y T Cheng further added that IMPLIED VOLATILITY, which was having its first start on the All Weather Track tonight, did not appear to be comfortable on the surface. When questioned regarding the poor performance of HAPPY AMBASSADOR, B Prebble stated that after his mount became awkward on the heels of AMAZING JOURNEY near the 1200 Metres, HAPPY AMBASSADOR travelled only fairly. He said near the 700 Metres he shifted HAPPY AMBASSADOR out to improve around AMAZING JOURNEY, however, HAPPY AMBASSADOR quickly came off the bit and after this did not respond to his riding and was most disappointing. The performance of HAPPY AMBASSADOR, which finished last, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY AMBASSADOR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial. A veterinary inspection of IMPLIED VOLATILITY and HAPPY AMBASSADOR after the race did not show any significant findings. WIN PRACTITIONER, GIVE WELL and GREAT HERO were sent for sampling.
