Permission was granted for METRO RIDER to race without a crossed nose band, part of that horse’s declared gear, when the crossed nose band was not able to be fitted onto the horse due to METRO RIDER becoming very fractious in the saddling area. Trainer P F Yiu was advised that a warning would be placed upon the saddling manners of METRO RIDER and should the horse reoffend in the future, consideration will be given to taking further action against it. CHEERFUL HAPPINESS began awkwardly and shortly after the start was crowded for room between METRO RIDER and MASTER TOWER which shifted out. ACTUARIAL TALENT was slow to begin. From wide barriers, FANTASTISCH and NAMJONG FIGHTERS were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. In the early stages, TRANSCENDENCE got its head up and proved difficult to settle. Passing the 1000 Metres, MASTER TOWER commenced to prove difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of SIMPLY JOY. MASTER TOWER was then left racing three wide and without cover for the remainder of the race. Shortly after the 400 Metres, NICE KING shifted out and bumped CHEERFUL HAPPINESS. Near the 300 Metres, FANTASTISCH was steadied away from the heels of ACTUARIAL TALENT and MASTER TOWER. A veterinary inspection of TRANSCENDENCE after the race did not show any significant findings. METRO RIDER, NICE KING and WIND KNIGHT were sent for sampling.
