MASTER KEY was withdrawn on 15.6.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore lower back) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter KING OF SCOTS (G Cheyne). Before being allowed to race again, MASTER KEY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KING OF SCOTS and INDUSTRIAL HERO bumped at the start. ELECTRONIC MASTER began awkwardly and in the early stages of the race got its head on the side and lay in. Approaching the 1200 Metres, THE UNTOUCHABLELAD shifted in and bumped ELECTRONIC MASTER after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of RIVER CAPTAIN which was steadied away from the heels of INDUSTRIAL HERO which itself got its head up and proved difficult to settle when being steadied to obtain cover. For some distance after this, INDUSTRIAL HERO continued to prove difficult to settle, resulting in RIVER CAPTAIN having to be checked away from the heels of that horse. SPINNAKER hung out rounding the Home Turn. THE UNTOUCHABLELAD (Apprentice T H So) was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight. Apprentice So stated that after this THE UNTOUCHABLELAD was reluctant to improve its position between CHAMPION MOUNT and ROCKET POWER and on a number of occasions hung in behind CHAMPION MOUNT and proved very difficult to ride. Throughout the race, TREMENDOUS ADD and ROCKET POWER travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of RIVER CAPTAIN and THE UNTOUCHABLELAD after the race did not show any significant findings. KING OF SCOTS and TREMENDOUS ADD were sent for sampling. <17/6/2010 Additional Veterinary Report> RIVER CAPTAIN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. RIVER CAPTAIN was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P F Yiu this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have stiff and restricted action and also lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, RIVER CAPTAIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
