The start was delayed when SUPER GOAL MASTER proved very difficult to load. Having regard to the circumstances, the Stewards ruled that the horse must perform satisfactorily in a series of official barrier trials before racing again. At the start, CHINA GOOD was crowded for room between CAGA BOY and DOUBLE DRAGON which shifted out. Shortly after the start, IMAGINATION was checked away from the heels of MANY GAINS. Approaching the 1200 Metres, CHINA GOOD, which was being shifted in, was checked away from the heels of LOTUS LOVE. Near the 1200 Metres, ASIAN CITRUS got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of RACING LEGEND which at this time was taken in by HORSE WIN WIN which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MANY GAINS. Near the 850 Metres, RACING LEGEND got its head on the side and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of MANY GAINS which itself was racing close to the heels of DOUBLE DRAGON. ZEPHYRUS, which was following RACING LEGEND, was steadied way from the heels of that horse and RED RULER, which was following ZEPHYRUS, was also steadied in consequence. Near the 100 Metres, LOTUS LOVE (Apprentice T H So) shifted in and brushed MANY GAINS. Apprentice So dropped his whip inside the final 50 Metres. Throughout the race, CAGA BOY travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of RED RULER after the race did not show any significant findings. DOUBLE DRAGON and LOTUS LOVE were sent for sampling.
