Near the 1500 Metres, WORLD WAY was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of MY WAY. Throughout the race, FAT DRAGON travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, Apprentice T H So stated that he rode HEALTHY BLUEBERRY along in the early stages to take up a forward position as instructed. He said passing the winning post on the first occasion he raced to the outside of SPLENDID CHAMPION and attempted to gain advantage over that horse so that he could cross to the fence. He said however that SPLENDID CHAMPION maintained its position to the inside of HEALTHY BLUEBERRY’s hindquarters and as the pace of the race in the early and middle stages was quite quick, he believed it would not be in the best interests of HEALTHY BLUEBERRY for him to ride it forward to clear SPLENDID CHAMPION. MY WAY, HO WONGCHOY and SPLENDID CHAMPION were sent for sampling.
