SPARKLING was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, SPARKLING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CHEERFUL DOUBLE began awkwardly and was slow to begin, then shortly after the start was bumped heavily by COMPACT YARN. RAIN OF THUNDER was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, NEW LEADER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. At the 1200 Metres, ENERGETIC BOY was steadied away from the heels of INDUSTRIAL LEGEND (C W Wong) which shifted in when not properly clear. C W Wong was advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. At the 400 Metres, HOT SHOT bumped the hindquarters of COMPACT YARN when obtaining a narrow run between that horse and CONFUCIUS FORTUNE. For some distance passing the 400 Metres, CHEERFUL DOUBLE was held up for a run. For some distance passing the 100 Metres, NEW LEADER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of RAIN OF THUNDER. For the majority of the race, CONFUCIUS FORTUNE travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of INDUSTRIAL LEGEND after the race did not show any significant findings. HOT SHOT and CHEERFUL DOUBLE were sent for sampling.
