Whilst in the saddling stalls, DANE PATROL had its left front plate refitted. DANE PATROL was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. MAGIC TEMPLE was crowded for room at the start between OCEAN WIDE and HORSE GALORE which shifted out. TURF MAGIC was crowded for room at the start between DOUBLE LUCK, which knuckled over on jumping, and DANE PATROL which shifted in. BOSS began awkwardly. Passing the 1000 Metres, NEW KING PRAWN got its head on the side and commenced to hang out. NEW KING PRAWN continued to hang out for the remainder of the race. A veterinary inspection of NEW KING PRAWN, which finished tailed out, after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of NEW KING PRAWN was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NEW KING PRAWN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Making the first turn, MAGIC TEMPLE raced in restricted room between TURF MAGIC and MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MR VIGOROUS. Shortly after entering the Straight, MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP was eased down by its rider which resulted in the horse failing to finish. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of MR VIGOROUS after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that DOUBLE LUCK had lost its left front plate. HAPPY REUNION and HORSE GALORE were sent for sampling.
