METRO RIDER began awkwardly. KOWLOON PRIDE (D Whyte) began awkwardly. D Whyte reported that in the early stages his saddle shifted to the right side, however, he was able to correct it passing the winning post on the first occasion. WADASURPRISE and SONOFTHEWEST bumped heavily at the start, resulting in WADASURPRISE shifting out and making contact with SUPREME GOLD. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, LIVERBIRD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KOWLOON PRIDE. Passing the 1300 Metres, SHARP BOY shifted out away from the heels of SONOFTHEWEST after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse for some distance. After the 1100 Metres, WAIT FOR ME was left racing wide and without cover. For some distance passing the 1000 Metres, SHARP BOY got its head up and proved difficult to settle when racing close to the heels of METRO RIDER. Passing the 900 Metres, WADASURPRISE was taken wider by SUPREME GOLD which shifted out away from the heels of SONOFTHEWEST. Near the 600 Metres, SONOFTHEWEST and SUPREME GOLD bumped as SONOFTHEWEST shifted to the outside of SHARP BOY. Passing the 600 Metres, SUPER SURPRISE was steadied away from the heels of SONOFTHEWEST. For some distance passing the 500 Metres, KOWLOON PRIDE got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHARP BOY. Passing the 200 Metres, WADASURPRISE was inconvenienced by SONOFTHEWEST which was taken out slightly by METRO RIDER. KOWLOON PRIDE, GOLDEN BOY and WAIT FOR ME were sent for sampling.
