Steward Report Predict Pace Map
NICKU was withdrawn on 8.2.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter TELECOM GOGO (Apprentice T H So). Before being allowed to race again, NICKU will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. The start was delayed when TELECOM GOGO proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, TELECOM GOGO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. TELECOM GOGO and SOMETHING SPECIAL began awkwardly. BLADE FORCE was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, OWNERS` GLORY shifted out and bumped REDOUTE`S FORTUNE. Approaching the 1500 Metres, SUISSE D`OR was steadied away from the heels of PERFECT TEN which shifted in when barely clear. Passing the 1000 Metres, SOMETHING SPECIAL was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TELECOM GOGO. For some distance after this, SOMETHING SPECIAL continued to over-race. Passing the 600 Metres, REDOUTE`S FORTUNE, which was over-racing, was shifted away from the heels of PEGASUS SUPREME and in doing so took SUISSE D`OR wider. For some distance approaching and rounding the Home Turn, REDOUTE`S FORTUNE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PEGASUS SUPREME which got its head on the side and hung out and then shortly after straightening was checked away from the heels of PEGASUS SUPREME. In the Straight, KIDSLAND BABY got its head on the side and lay in. When questioned, M Guyon (SUISSE D`OR) stated that in the early stages he was able to obtain a position one horse off the fence behind MASTER DREAMER. He said after passing the 1200 Metres the tempo of the race slowed appreciably. He said as a result of this SUISSE D`OR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MASTER DREAMER for some distance passing the 1100 Metres. He said due to the tempo of the race and the manner in which SUISSE D`OR was racing, he elected to shift that horse away from the heels of MASTER DREAMER to allow SUISSE D`OR to stride more fluently. He added that although this resulted in SUISSE D`OR racing without cover, he felt it was in the best interests of the horse to be given galloping room at this time rather than to continue to restrain it away from the heels of MASTER DREAMER. M Guyon was advised that his explanation would be reported, however, he should wherever possible avoid covering unnecessary ground and which exposes his mounts to racing without cover. When questioned, Z Purton stated that throughout the race and particularly rounding the turns PEGASUS SUPREME hung out. He said making the turn after the 600 Metres PEGASUS SUPREME got its head on the side and hung out. He added that as he was attempting to shift PEGASUS SUPREME back in to race outside BLADE FORCE, he received a call from the rider of PERFECT TEN which had improved to be racing between BLADE FORCE and PEGASUS SUPREME. He said he continued to attempt to shift PEGASUS SUPREME back in to re-establish its position outside BLADE FORCE, however, as he received a number of calls from the rider of PERFECT TEN, he looked to his inside on a number of occasions to see whether it was possible for him to shift back in to the position he had previously held. He said however that as PERFECT TEN had consolidated its position one horse off the fence, he was not able to shift back in. A veterinary inspection of PEGASUS SUPREME after the race did not show any significant findings. SUISSE D`OR, OWNERS` GLORY and PERFECT TEN were sent for sampling. <10/2/2011 Additional Veterinary Reports>The Veterinary Officer reported that TELECOM GOGO had a very stiff action this morning. Before being allowed to race again, TELECOM GOGO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As previously advised, TELECOM GOGO will also be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test due to it proving difficult to load.
