When parading behind the barriers, LUCKY LEON proved very fractious and reared up, striking Apprentice T H So, its rider, in the face and causing him to be dislodged. After being examined by the Club’s medical officers, Apprentice So was ruled to be unfit to fulfil his engagement on LUCKY LEON in this race. Accordingly, LUCKY LEON was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Prior to being permitted to race again, LUCKY LEON will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial. SOLAR UP knuckled over on jumping out and after this travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. Approaching the 1200 Metres, PRAISING was awkwardly placed between LOADS OF JOY and LUCKY PRINCE which shifted out slightly. Making the first turn, VIVA DOLPHIN got its head up and shifted out across the heels of XI YING MEN. MAGIC TEMPLE had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and then passing the 100 Metres was shifted out across the heels of LUCKY PRINCE to continue improving. A veterinary inspection of XI YING MEN after the race did not show any significant findings. WINDICATOR RETURNS and PRAISING were sent for sampling.
