LUCKY NISTELROOY, which was fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin. LUCKY CHEVALIER shifted out at the start, hampering REAL GENERAL. After this, LUCKY CHEVALIER was taken across behind runners. Shortly after the start, FORTUNE COOKIE got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DIVIDEND CHAMPION. Near the 900 Metres, VIVA FREEDOM commenced to get its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of LUCKY NISTELROOY. Then approaching the 800 Metres, VIVA FREEDOM again got its head on the side and was severely checked after shifting out across the heels of LUCKY NISTELROOY when reluctant to maintain its position inside that horse. HAPPY MASTER, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Rounding the Home Turn, SOLDIER and DIVIDED CHAMPION made contact on a number of occasions due to SOLDIER shifting out to obtain clear running. Passing the 300 Metres, HAPPY SCORE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUNSHINE KID which shifted in after being bumped by REAL GENERAL. Then near the 200 Metres, REAL GENERAL became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by SUNSHINE KID which shifted out. Inside the 100 Metres, the whip of Apprentice M L Yeung (HAPPY SCORE) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of Apprentice C Y Ho (PLAN B). Throughout the race, LIONS’ FORTUNE travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. The performances of ELECTRONIC MOTION and FAIRY BOY, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ELECTRONIC MOTION and FAIRY BOY will both be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of ELECTRONIC MOTION after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of FAIRY BOY after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. LUCKY NISTELROOY and VIVA FREEDOM were sent for sampling.
