YUAN’S FORTUNE was withdrawn prior to the race by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (cut and swollen right hock). Before being allowed to race again, YUAN’S FORTUNE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HOME WITH GLORY was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, HERO AND GOLD was steadied away from the heels of BUMPER STRIKE which shifted in. Near the 1200 Metres, SPARKLING and FORTUNE SIX both became unbalanced after making contact due to FORTUNE SIX shifting out away from the heels of BUMPER STRIKE which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BENEFACTOR. SUPER GENKI, which was following FORTUNE SIX, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence. After this, SUPER GENKI was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORTUNE SIX for some distance. After the 900 Metres, HERO AND GOLD was left racing wide and without cover. At the entrance to the Straight, BUMPER STRIKE was shifted to the inside of EAST OCEAN when disappointed for running between that horse and BRILLIANT CHARIOT. As a result of BUMPER STRIKE shifting in, FORTUNE SIX was shifted out around the heels of that horse. FORTUNE SIX was then unable to obtain clear running until the concluding stages when held up initially behind EAST OCEAN and then BILLION. Because of this, FORTUNE SIX was not properly tested in the Straight. After the race, B Prebble reported that JUGGERNAUT, in his opinion, was not comfortable on tonight’s track surface. Also after the race, it was reported that SUPER GENKI and SPARKLING had both lost their right front plates. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE SIX and BENEFACTOR after the race did not show any significant findings. FORTUNE SIX, HOME WITH GLORY and BRILLIANT CHARIOT were sent for sampling.
