Whilst in the saddling stalls, CAI BAO IN had its left front plate refitted. CAI BAO IN was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. CAI BAO IN was slow to begin. From a wide barrier, SUPER BOBO was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching the 1300 Metres, VERY WELL shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WRATH OF FIRE, resulting in CAI BAO IN being hampered and taken wider. AOMEN was unable to obtain clear running until passing the 250 Metres. NORTH HILL was not able to obtain clear running until near the 200 Metres and then over the concluding stages raced in restricted room inside the heels of LET’S GOAL which shifted ground slightly under pressure. Near the 100 Metres, Apprentice K C Ng (TRES MAGNIFIQUE) dropped his whip. For the majority of the race, INTERCHINA STAR travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of SOUNDS EXCELLENT after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SOUNDS EXCELLENT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AOMEN and TRES MAGNIFIQUE were sampling.
