HOW WONDERFUL began awkwardly. HO WONGCHOY blundered at the start. From a wide barrier, MOON CHASER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After the 1400 Metres, SUNSHINE DAY was crowded for room between HOW WONDERFUL and GOOD THINKER (G Mossé) which shifted in. GOOD THINKER was then taken out to relieve the tightening to SUNSHINE DAY. PANTHER RUN, which was following, was checked away from the heels of SUNSHINE DAY in consequence and HAPPY CHA CHA, which was following PANTHER RUN, was inconvenienced. G Mossé was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for runners to his inside in future. After the 1300 Metres, GLORY OF INDIA was left racing wide and without cover. In the early part of the Straight, HOW WONDERFUL hung in and then near the 350 Metres shifted out abruptly when being checked away from the heels of SUPER TEAM as that horse was giving ground. After this, HOW WONDERFUL got its head on the side and hung out and near the 300 Metres shifted out, hampering SKY EAGLE. Near the 150 Metres, HO WONGCHOY shifted out and bumped GOOD THINKER, causing both horses to become unbalanced. When questioned, M L Yeung stated that it had been intended for SUPER TEAM to be ridden in a position behind the speed if possible as the horse had been successful at its most recent start when ridden in that manner. He said after SUPER TEAM began well today, he attempted to find a position with cover, however, there were a number of horses maintaining their positions to his inside and he felt that it was not possible for him to obtain cover and was likely to be caught wide. He said for this reason he allowed SUPER TEAM to improve its position to be racing outside the leader, KENSWORTH KID. He said after obtaining this position SUPER TEAM commenced to over-race and hung out. He added although today’s race was not run at a quick tempo, he did not believe that SUPER TEAM had been suited by having to be ridden in a forward position and because of this the horse did not finish off its race. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY CHA CHA and SUPER TEAM after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SUNSHINE DAY had sustained a cut to the left hind leg. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on HOW WONDERFUL at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. SUNSHINE DAY and GOOD THINKER were sent for sampling. <19/3/2012 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that MOON CHASER was lame in the right hind leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, MOON CHASER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
