FUJIAN SPIRIT and AMEDEO proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, FUJIAN SPIRIT and AMEDEO will both be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. After being loaded, WINDICATOR POWER became fractious and broke through the front gates prior to the start being effected. WINDICATOR POWER was returned to the Start and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Having in mind the circumstances, the Stewards ruled that prior to being permitted to race again, WINDICATOR POWER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. WINDICATOR POWER, which began awkwardly, was checked shortly after the start when crowded for room between CHARITY SPIRIT and BUNDLE OF LOVE, both of which shifted ground. CHOICE TREASURE shifted out at the start and bumped GROOVY. From the outside barrier, FUJIAN SPIRIT was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Over the final 150 Metres, CHOICE TREASURE was not able to obtain clear running and consequently was not able to be properly tested. Throughout the race, GROOVY travelled wide and without cover. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of C Y Ho (WINDICATOR POWER), 6th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where circumstances permit. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUPER PLUS, K C Leung stated that over the 1000 Metres of tonight’s race, SUPER PLUS was always off the bridle and never travelled comfortably at any stage. He said, in his opinion, SUPER PLUS would be much better suited in races over 1200 Metres. A veterinary inspection of SUPER PLUS after the race did not show any significant findings. ROMANTIC CITY and BUNDLE OF LOVE were sent for sampling.
