From wide barriers, VICTORY MASCOT and REGENCY WINNER were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, SUNSHINE DAY momentarily raced tight inside INDIGO WAY which itself was crowded for room inside GOODVIEW SUCCESSOR. Rounding the Home Turn, VICTORY MASCOT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUNSHINE DAY. In the early part of the Straight, FORTUNE WINNER, which was commencing to give ground, got its head on the side and shifted in. In the Straight, HEI HEI POSH (U Rispoli) got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure and passing the 100 Metres shifted out across the running of NOBLE BOY which was steadied and shifted in. U Rispoli was severely reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount. For the majority of the race, GOODVIEW SUCCESSOR travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of HEAR THE ROAR and FORTUNE WINNER after the race did not show any significant findings. INDIGO WAY and TURBO JEWELLERY were sent for sampling. <24/1/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>FORTUNE WINNER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. FORTUNE WINNER was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P F Yiu this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE WINNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
