When being loaded into the barriers, WINNING ADVANTAGE pulled back, resulting in the horse’s bridle becoming loose. After the bridle was refitted and when being reloaded into the barriers, WINNING ADVANTAGE cast its left front plate, resulting in it having to be replated. After being replated, WINNING ADVANTAGE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said, in his opinion, it was suitable to race. This resulted in a delay to the starting time of this race. GREAT STORIES and DASHING SUPER bumped heavily at the start, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced and GREAT STORIES losing ground. SOLDIER began awkwardly and then after initially being ridden along was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. OXFORD CHARLEY and WINNING ADVANTAGE were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After the 1200 Metres, THANKSGIVING was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 800 Metres, GERONIMO MEADOW commenced to travel keenly and shifted out away from the heels of SOLDIER after being awkwardly placed behind that horse. GLOBAL FAME was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight until passing the 300 Metres. Over the final 200 Metres and in particular over the concluding stages, KISSMET shifted out under pressure. Approaching the 150 Metres, Z Purton (KISSMET) dropped his whip. Near the 100 Metres, ALL MY BENEFIT (K C Leung) shifted out and hampered BLOSSOM DAILY, resulting in K C Leung having to stop riding and correct his mount. A veterinary inspection of SOLDIER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. KHAYA and KISSMET were sent for sampling.
