MAGNUMOUS was withdrawn on 21.2.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore tendon injury) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter PERFECT TRIUMPH (W M Lai). GOOD DIRECTIONS was withdrawn on 22.2.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter REAL GENERAL (A Suborics). Before being allowed to race again, MAGNUMOUS and GOOD DIRECTIONS will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. REAL GENERAL became unbalanced and lost ground shortly after the start when crowded for room between OXFORD CHARLEY which shifted in and EL GRANDE which was taken out by SUPER CAGA. From wide barriers, SUPREME HONG KONG and LITTLE WIND were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, SOLAR BOY was slow to muster speed and travelled wide and without cover until near the 1200 Metres. Approaching the passing the 1200 Metres, LITTLE WIND proved very difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of FOLLOW THE WIND. For some distance after the 1200 Metres, SUPREME HONG KONG was steadied away from the heels of GOOD HONG KONG when proving difficult to settle. SUPREME HONG KONG continued to over-race and near the 1100 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of GOOD HONG KONG. After this, SUPREME HONG KONG proved very difficult to settle despite the efforts of its rider. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that GOOD HONG KONG was lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD HONG KONG will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of REAL GENERAL immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, REAL GENERAL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SUPREME HONG KONG immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DASHING SUPER and EL GRANDE were sent for sampling.
