Steward Report Predict Pace Map
ROCKET FLY lost its right front plate in the early stages. After the 800 Metres, ROCKET FLY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BEAUTY LEAD which was racing in restricted room inside WAH MAY STAR which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MIRAGE. KITAYA was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 150 Metres momentarily raced tight between NICE FOLKS and ROCKET FLY which shifted out. METALLIC STAR was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight when obtaining tight running to the inside of BEAUTY LEAD. In the Straight, MIRAGE got its head on the side and hung out under pressure. When questioned regarding his riding of FABULOUS NOVEMBER, A Suborics stated that he was instructed to ride his mount positively in the early stages in an endeavour to overcome barrier 14, however, he was not to ride it aggressively as FABULOUS NOVEMBER had hung out in its races in the past and proved difficult to ride. He said after being loaded into the barriers, FABULOUS NOVEMBER became fractious which resulted in him being momentarily dislodged from that horse. He said as the start was effected FABULOUS NOVEMBER momentarily got its head on the side and shifted out towards the outside rail. He said having been made aware that FABULOUS NOVEMBER hangs out in its races and as the horse had shown an inclination from the start to hang out, he was then reluctant to ride his mount along in an endeavour to take up a forward position. He said rather he allowed his horse to work its way forward and shift in towards the main body of the field gradually. He added after the 1100 Metres when left racing very wide he did give consideration to riding his mount along, however, at this stage FABULOUS NOVEMBER was already laying out and he felt that if he rode the horse into the first turn, it would continue to hang out which would not be in the horse’s best interests. He said for these reasons FABULOUS NOVEMBER was left racing wide and without cover in the early stages. He said making the turn after the 800 Metres FABULOUS NOVEMBER commenced to hang out and he had to take measures to prevent the horse from shifting out and covering further ground. He added in the Straight FABULOUS NOVEMBER gave ground. A Suborics was advised that whilst the Stewards accepted that the horse had begun awkwardly after being fractious in the barriers, nonetheless, in their opinion, he should have made more endeavour than he did on this occasion to obtain a position closer to the rail. He was further advised that, wherever possible, he should ride his mounts in such a manner that they do not cover unnecessary ground and therefore are able to finish off their races. A veterinary inspection of FABULOUS NOVEMBER immediately following the race found that horse to have blood at the mouth due to a knocked tooth at its left lower jaw. A veterinary inspection of METALLIC STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The Stewards will question O Doleuze regarding NICE FOLKS being left racing three wide and without cover throughout the race. WAH MAY STAR, MIRAGE and LET ME HANDLE IT were sent for sampling.
