REWARDING HERO began awkwardly and then shortly after the start was crowded for room inside LET ME HANDLE IT which shifted in. NOBLE DE MAN began awkwardly. From the outside barrier, AUTUMN GOLD was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1550 Metres, REWARDING HERO raced tight between SANTA FE SUN and LET ME HANDLE IT (O Doleuze) which shifted in slightly. SANTA FE SUN, REWARDING HERO and LET ME HANDLE IT then raced tight for some distance as SANTA FE SUN maintained its position away from the fence. This resulted in all three horses becoming unbalanced near the 1500 Metres. O Doleuze was reprimanded and advised that whilst there were some circumstances to this incident, nonetheless in the opinion of the Stewards, he should have made a greater effort to relieve the early tightening to REWARDING HERO. When LET ME HANDLE IT became unbalanced, it shifted out and made heavy contact with JOLLY VICTOR which became badly unbalanced. Near the 1200 Metres, SANTA FE SUN, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied and lost ground when momentarily crowded for room inside REWARDING HERO (N Callan) which shifted in slightly. N Callan was advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for runners to his inside in similar circumstances. Near the 1100 Metres, PRESIDENT LINCOLN was crowded for room inside DR GOOD HABIT which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CHATER DREAM which at that time was taken in slightly by LUNAR RISE (K C Leung). K C Leung was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future. DR GOOD HABIT lost its right front plate at the 500 Metres. KABAYAN had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. A veterinary inspection of LET ME HANDLE IT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, an endoscopic examination was not able to be properly performed. A veterinary inspection of AUTUMN GOLD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of PRESIDENT LINCOLN immediately following the race confirmed the horse to be a “roarer” which had previously been reported. REWARDING HERO and SANTA FE SUN were sent for sampling.
