FIONN’S TREASURE was withdrawn on 17.6.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GROOVY (T H So). Before being allowed to race again, FIONN’S TREASURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MULTIVICTORY began awkwardly and was slow to begin. Then despite being ridden along throughout the race, MULTIVICTORY failed to muster speed. SMART MAN was badly crowded for room at the start between METALLIC STAR and SPEEDYGONZALEZ which shifted in. In this incident, METALLIC STAR became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by SMART MAN. From a wide barrier, GERONIMO MEADOW was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 500 Metres, METALLIC STAR and DEHERE’S THE LOVE raced tight. When questioned, K Teetan stated that, from the outside barrier, he had been asked to obtain a forward position on AMBITIOUS KING which is the horse’s usual racing pattern. He said after having to ride his mount along briefly in the early stages, AMBITIOUS KING was able to travel into a forward position without having to have further use made of it. He said prior to the race he had been asked if possible to sit outside MASTER KOCHANWONG, however, if AMBITIOUS KING was travelling keenly, then he should lead. He said as AMBITIOUS KING was able to obtain a forward position with ease, he allowed the horse to continue into the lead as it became obvious the rider of MASTER KOCHANWONG did not intend to contest the lead. He added whilst AMBITIOUS KING travelled strongly after the 800 Metres, he felt that the horse had travelled in a similarly keen manner in its previous successes and for this reason this did not overly concern him. He said whilst he was aware that the race was being run at a quick tempo, it was not available for him to restrain AMBITIOUS KING any further as, in his opinion, he would have had to fight against the horse to do so. He said he attempted to have AMBITIOUS KING relax as much as possible without having to heavily restrain the horse. He said whereas in previous races AMBITIOUS KING had shown a good turn of foot rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, tonight the horse immediately came under pressure at the entrance to the Straight and then gave ground noticeably to finish at the rear of the field. He added, in his opinion, AMBITIOUS KING was disappointing as although the horse had travelled strongly, this was not significantly different from the manner in which it travelled in its previous races. Mr A T Millard, the trainer of AMBITIOUS KING, said the horse had trained on well since its last start and because of this a forward showing was expected in tonight’s race. A veterinary inspection of AMBITIOUS KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of AMBITIOUS KING, which had won its last two starts, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, AMBITIOUS KING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AMBITIOUS KING, MASTER KOCHANWONG and SMART MAN were sent for sampling. <2014/6/19 Additional Veterinary Reports>AMBITIOUS KING, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. AMBITIOUS KING was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A T Millard this morning. He said at this time he found the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, AMBITIOUS KING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
