BALTIC WARRIOR stood flat-footed at the start and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, BALTIC WARRIOR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. DANEWIN EXPRESS began awkwardly and then was crowded for room between THE SYLPH and LAUGHING LORD, both of which shifted ground. TELECOM BOOM was slow to begin. BALTIC WARRIOR lost its left hind plate after passing the winning post on the first occasion. Passing the 1300 Metres, EXPECTATOR raced tight inside THE SYLPH which, when proving difficult to settle, was racing tight inside VARA PEARL (Apprentice K K Chiong) which shifted in. Apprentice Chiong was advised to ensure that she leaves comfortable racing room for runners to her inside in similar circumstances. FRANCE VALOUR travelled wide and without cover in the early stages and after the 1100 Metres was allowed to improve its position to race in the lead. After the 1000 Metres, VARA PEARL was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 700 Metres, LIGHTNING AND GOLD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLYING PROSPERITY. The performance of FLYING PROSPERITY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FLYING PROSPERITY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, Z Purton (BOSSIEE) stated that he was not able to offer any real excuse for the disappointing performance of the horse. He said BOSSIEE travelled satisfactorily, however, came under pressure prior to the Home Turn and then was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of BOSSIEE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BALTIC WARRIOR and THE SYLPH were sent for sampling.
